I had a loving relationship with a wonderful woman for 5-months, then things happened in her life (unmarried pregnant daughter, father diagnosed with liver cancer, no help from adult son, and me loosing and looking for a second career although I don't need the money) causing her to devote full-time to them and saying there is no time for her to work on our relationship. So, she wrote a loving email saying let's "put our relationship on-hold" because she cannot concentrate on the above and work on our future.
Since then there have been very little contact, no returned phone calls for a month (I have since stopped calling), and she's been seen with at least one male friend at a bar. I've been celebit and am very lonely waiting for her to call everthough I sent calls and notes saying "I love you and I'm here for you!" What does "on-hold" mean and how long is too long to be "on-hold?"

Her birthday was a week ago, so I sent roses, "I love you" balloons, and a card to her at work. This evening I got a "thank you wonderful guy" email saying sorry for the delay, but her father has less than two weeks to live and she has spending every free moments with him. I said I'm here for her no matter what. I don't mind holding longer. Thank you all for your advice.

I feel for you because you sound like a really nice guy. If things are bad and crazy in her home with kids and things thin she may need some time to herself to think about things. But if she is refusing you and not communicating with you and you may of seen or heard her being with another man. I know its painful to think about a loved one being with someone else but you can only give so much. If she is doing what she is doing to you maybe she is not the person you thought she was and differently not the person for you. I wish you the best of luck.

She seems understandably stressed but if the relationship was really strong she would have turned to you for support. I would try one more time to contact her and talk through where she sees your relationship going. If she can't give you an answer you like, tell her that you want to be there for her but want to see other people.
Let events happen as they may, either you'll find another fantastic girl or she will come to her senses and you guys will get together. Either way, things work out.

If she really cared about you, you would be her 'rock' during these tenuous times and tribulations in her life, especially since you have fully conveyed your feelings and understanding towards her situation. It sounds as if she is trying to let you down gently. As hard as it may be for you to digest, she has emotionally left you. Be strong and move on. There is someone who will reciprocate the love you have to offer. Good luck!

first off i think that you are very sweet to be waiting for her like that. there is no time limit on how long you can be on hold. its really how long you are willing to wait for her. i say continue to wait if you love her, but definatly ask about these sitings of her with another male, because thats not right. good luck sweety!!

you have "hold on" enough time....talk with her in person if possible and tell her the situation....if she still wants you to "hold on" then there is not love, you are only her confort zone that is there waiting for her.....go on with your life without her....you are missing the real love that is somewhere around you and you cant see it because you are "oh hold"

If its important to you to be with her let her know that you are there for her as a friend.... but keep your options open... considering her situation "on hold" could mean indefinitely... especially if she is seeing other guys.

Use Condom!
You can hold this relationship till your girl friend gets pregnant or you get tired of her whichever is earlier!

I would say that she didn't mean on hold, she meant break it off.
Send her flowers at work and tell her you have missed her. If she doesn't call you, forget it and move on.

I think that you've held long enough. She can't even return your calls. I'd say that she's lost interest.
