I know I am going to be flayed alive for this, but really, why does it have to be their way all the time?

Men use the toilet with the seat up (half the time). Women use the toilet with the seat down. Why is one way supposed to be correct and the other not? Can't women simply operate it to get it in their preferred position?

I know women will say that when its up they sit down and get a wet bum, but really! We sit on it too, half the time, and I have never gotten a wet bum. Look before you sit is the solution.

And don't tell me you don't want to touch the icky seat. Heck, you're going to wash your hands afterwards anyway, right?

To be clear, I habitually DO put the seat and the lid down. This is not my point.

The point is the attitude of women that men must do this because they say so. I have rarely heard any woman express this as a request, or explain the merits of it. Rather it is an ultimatum: men must comply or be designated as boors. It is an imperious attitude that women need to reconsider.

I agree with rosends. Just put it back down so you can watch the game without having to have this argument in the bottom of the ninth.

When I am done with the toilet, I make sure it is absolutely spotless and then put both the seat and the cover down. To do any less is just rude. Under your logic, why even bother putting your dick back in your pants? Why not just walk around with your dick always in the ready position? In fact, shouldn't the entire world be reorganized for your convenience?

It isn't just toilet seats. If we humans could learn how to live without having such a large impact on the planet, think what a nicer place this could be. Think if the bathroom was always clean - and then the kitchen - and the yard - and the street - and the town . . .

I'm a clean freak so I check the toilet before and after I use it. It's only proper for a guy to not only put the seat down, but to put the lid down too if it was found that way. I personally get annoyed when the lid is up itself. Anywayz- it's a simple solution. If the seat was down when u first walked in, make sure it's down when u leave. Not so hard, is it?

I was taught that toilets have lids for a reason. When you or your guest goes into the bathroom to wash your hands, you shouldn't be greeted by the open bowl. That's why the lid for the toilet was put there, to be down when the toilet is not in use.
Maybe I was just raised by a more genteel standard (OK I know I was.... I had to tape a note to the lid to remind my step son) but I want the toilet lid down, not just the toilet seat.

Some women are just crazy! I've never made that an issue. I live in a house with 3 men (husband and 2 sons) and I've never made them put the seat back down. It's just as easy for me to put it down as it is for them to lift it. I do insist that they lift the seat because if they don't then they splatter it. If they splatter then I make them clean the toilet before I use it.

The rules in my house are not only does the seat need to be down, but the lid as well. I dated a guy who had the same rule and his reasoning, was why would they make the lid if it wasn't intended to be used. My reasoning, is I don't like my dog drinking out of the toilet...gross!

I really don't mind if my husband leaves the seat up. I think it's just as unfair for him to have to lift the seat up as it is for me to have to put it down, you know? The one thing I ask of him is to NOT pee or drop hairs on the rim of the toilet. Even though I don't sit on the rim, I still have to see it (when I lower the seat) and I have to clean it. It's pretty gross. He obliges me and wipes it off with a little toilet paper (and leaves the seat up) so we're happy. :)

Ok, my solution is that both men and women should put the seat and lid down. that way, everyone has to put something down. Its not just the guys that have to deal with it that way, and it also means your cat/dog is no longer allowed to drink toilet water.

Would you like to sit in dirty toilet water in the middle of the night? Whoever lifts the seat up should put it back down.

I demand the seat be down because my 1 year old son believes that EVERYTHING belongs in the toilet ... from the tissue to my cell phone .... and unless your comin over to clean it up and replace everything he ruins ...keep it down ...
women only ask for certain things because they are smarter than men and know what is going to happen if it isnt done our way ...so just do it and do it quietly ..thank you

that argument is stupid. men have to put the seat up too. i mean who is so wimpy that they must argue whether to put the seat down/up or not. NOT ME! for heavens sake, you've got muscles, now use em!
the only people that NEED the seat up/down for them are people with a physical disability that prevents them from doing so.
end of story, get over it, it doesnt matter!
