Viral infections have to run their course. There is no treatment for the virus itself. One can only treat symptoms of a virus to make the patient more comfortable. If your cat has an upper respiratory infection which is quite common in cats, then it should clear up in about 7-10 days.
Sometimes cats with URI will contract secondary infections. These are bacterial infections and can be treated with antibiotics. The symptoms are discolored discharge from the eyes or nose. Since it is necessary to know exactly which type of antibiotic is needed to treat which type of infection it is highly recommended that you have the cat seen by a veterinarian.
Cats can go from being a little sneezy to quite ill in a very short time. Thus, if you see any changes in your cats behavior you need to call your vet immediately.

Most people don't know that the difference between animals drugs and human drugs are very slim, like just the dosage amounts. My grandma's dog takes the same seizure meds as my friends daughter. Same generic kind made from the same company.

I suggest taking the cat to the vet. It may not ne a viral infection

There are no over the counter drugs for viral infections unless you are talking about skin viral infections, like ringworm. Even then, Lamisil isn't good for cats since they will lick it off. Get your cat to the vet for a prescription.

NO! Take your cat to the vet. A cat is much much smaller than a human. There would be no safe and accurate way to guess how much, if any, of a human med to give to the cat.

Besides, first, I don't think there are any meds that work on viruses (virii?) and second, how do you even know that what your cat has is a virus?

Two things: do not give human medications to cats, and medications do not cure viral infections. They can only help relieve the symptoms.

Never give a cat human medications! Never! Never!

You'd kill your cat or make it very sick if you did. Take your cat to the vet and have the vet prescribe the proper medication.

Humans and cats are completely different. Take it to a vet. It is considered cruelty to animals if you do not get it the help it needs.
