How tall are your parents?

Height is genetic. Therefore, you're only going to be as tall as your genes dictate. A quick way to estimate how tall you should be is to take your parents' heights. Subtract five inches from your dad's height and average it with your mom's. (this is for girls). That is your genetic potential, give or take an inch. If you're waaayyy shorter than that, you should see a specialist.

An endocinologist can do tests that will see if you are done growing. If you're not, then you might be able to get help or get taller. However, at 15, chances are you are done growing and there won't be anything that can be done to make you taller. Girls stop growing about one or two years after they first get their periods (it is not the same age for all girls, like many people think, and boys grow much longer since they go into puberty later.)

Realize that height doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things and be happy that you're healthy and have a great future in front of you. Lots of people are 4' 11" and shorter. If it makes you that uncomfortable, you're fortunate enough to be a girl which means you can wear heels!

That's on the short side. Unless your doctor has said anything about it, it's not anything to worry about.

Most girls stop growing once they have reached puberty, but some will still put on one to two inches in height after that.

My daughter is 10, and is the size of a 6 year old. Her doctor sent her in for tests to make sure she didn't have a hormone imbalance, and did a growth estimate based on a ligiment x-ray done on her hand. Basically, it shows how much growth a person will acheive, and is usually pretty accurate.

They never found any problem with her, but the growth estimate puts her top height somewhere between 4'11" & 5'1". She's never going to be tall, but with her, there was no reason as to why that happened. Both her father and I are average height for adults (he's 6'0", and I'm 5'5"), as are the rest of both our families. She just got handed a "short" gene from somewhere in one of our families history. ;)

If you have already reached puberty, you won't grow much (if at all) now. But if you haven't, you should discuss your options with your doctor. If it's some sort of hormonal problem creating it, then there might be a way to help you achieve a bit more growth, but as I understood it with my daughter, anything they do has to be done before puberty or there are no real results from it.

I have a friend who is 30 and is 4'11" I can say that a lot of men think she is very cute and they are crazy about her. There is no normal. Your body will develope as your genetics intend for it to be. Relax, I am sure that you are perfect the way you are. If you feel you are over or under weight discuss it with your doctor.

You're on the short side definitely.. but you're not extremely short. I wouldn't worry about it, you're almost 5' feet. I know plenty of people who are 4'11 and older than 15! There's a chance you will grow more also.

Hey Reese,
My daughter in law is 4'11". My son is 6'1", she weighs about 102 and he weighs 230. they are Professional cheer leader instructors with UCA. She is 24 and just as cute as she can be. It's very helpful to be as Chase calls it "pocket sized" when he's trying to do stunts with her. At their wedding after the reception, he put her in a cupie over his head and put his hand on one hip, she was in her wedding gown with her flowers in her hand. It is the cutest picture i have of their wedding. There's nothing wrong with you. Besides if you are only 15 you may have another growth spurt coming.

Well, generally speaking girls grow until they are about 17 so you may still pick up some height. I am male, but I was only 5'4" at age 13 and ended up being 6'6" by the time I was 20.

It is shorter than average, but it is not abnormal. Heck, one of my best friends from high school was 5'4" and he was the tallest member of his family. His dad and brother were both 5'0" and his mom and two sisters were all under 5'0". The human body has tremendous variety. Don't worry about the fact that you're shorter than your classmates. Use it to your advantage. It's one of the things that makes you unique. Be proud of yourself and your height.

My aunt is out of college and according to the TV and radio, should still be in a booster seat. You know, 4' 9", but she's short. Your height is genetical, don't worry about it.
