First of all, congratulations for being so upfront and proactive about these things, many people aren't and so suffer quietly. Depression is one of those 'silent problems' that people rarely understand - even when you have it.
Depression (as with any mental OR physical illness) needs to be dealt with more than one way. At the moment you're dealing through medication. This is a good way to start, but it isn't the end. *Something* is there, underlying you actions and reasoning, and until its dealt with, it won't go away.
The weight loss and gain isn't just a 'thing' - its a symptom. The lack of motivation and desire to 'wallow' are also symptoms - there's something going on (or has gone on in the past) that you're not addressing. Things don't just go away just because there not dealt with. My advice on how to beat these once and for all is that you get to the root of the problem - the real reason that you gain and lose weight and that you lack motivation. You need to see someone who you can talk to about this - a psychologist, a pastor, a counsellor who can guide you to deal with why you're doing what you're doing.
Take care of yourself and look below the surface. I can guarantee you have a lot going on.

As far as cleaning goes. I have to make a list in one room at a time. I write down all the things I want to do in that room and will not mark it out until I have finished it. Then on to the next item.
Make a list for surface cleaning too. Dust Vacuum pick up things and put them away. I have a real hard time with this one cause I am obsessive about this as well. Good luck your aren't alone

I know how you feel. Unfortunetly depression is an illness and medication is probably the best thing for you. Keep trying different ones until you find one that kind of puts you in a normal state. As far as the weight goes, welcome to womanhood. We all constantly battle with the same problem. Lack of excercise is our worst enemy. Fast food is Evil to us. Take brisk walks, it is calming, stay away from caffiene that will keep you from getting more worked up. You sound bipolar like myself, you may want to get evaluated for this, talk to your doc.

Having a "mental illness" myself and btw I dont like calling it that at all I kinda look at it as a gift now... The best advice I can give you is to find yourself and love yourself for who you are. Looking for help from others is ok but you also need to look for help from within. By this I mean following your heart and doing the right thing for you is the coolness. So what if you dont do the dishes every day I sure dont and I dont let it get to me. I keep things as clean as I want them to be and if other people cant handle it then thats there problem not mine. I would love to talk with you more about anything you wanted to so just give me a msg magpiesmn is my messenger account. Hope this helped.

i have had the same sort of issues. i totally know what you are going through. with the cleaning, i just have to go step by step. make goals for myself. set one or two days aside for laundry. i make another day for a couple rooms in the house and and another for the rest. as for the weight, its been an uphill battle, but i recently was told about nurtisystems. i've been doing it for about 2 weeks and have already lost 10 lbs. i like it because the main part of the meal is already prepared, leaving me less dishes to clean and the only things i have to prepare myself are salads, and picking up fruit/veggies from the store. it teaches you about how to eat, and what foods your body reacts to best. hope this helps!

First of all, meds make you gain weight. Second, they don't solve your problems. In fact, they are really for just a short period of time, to get back on your feet, unless you have a major problem. Sadly, they are over-prescribed to the max and people are walking around like zombies. Discuss those issues with your therapist. Also, journal, writing brings out things that are bothering us, it's very cathartic.

Depression is hard to understand unless you have been through it, then you do.
making decisions are the most difficult things to do, God help you if anxiety is with it.
The medications help to an extent, but then you have the side effects; drowsy, indecision's etc. and the weight gain. stay with your Dr. he/she is your life line, if you don't life for your love ones will be hell, they suffer too when you aren't right.
I'm going through the same for the past 3 years. stay with the treatment

I have had the same problem with household chores. I did for years...then one day it occured to me to listen to music or an audiobook while I do them. Now I actually look forward to chores because it means I get to listen to my fave music or hear a good book.
