It's always nice to think most of the things aren't stolen but I am sure there are many out there...For example, my boss let someone rent her home and she kept it furnished. They were only supposed to stay for 3 months and she was moving back, they signed a house sitting agreement. They ended up stealing almost all her furniture-antiques and new, they stole some really really old books-sir walter scott originals and thing like that...they sold everything on Ebay. They even took her kids Dr. Seuss books and sold them! It was really bad when they forgot to take out the trash and when the trash was gone through my boss found every single item they stole, they copied the ebay page for each item. It had seller and buyer information and even people trying to sue them for selling bad merchandise....The courts never did anything about it~they said she would never get anything back and since they depend on Ebay as their source of income, she wouldn't probably be paid a settlement....its a crock!

Until a former coworker stole $10,000 in collectable merchandise and it showed up on ebay, I hadn't really thought about that. They ended up confiscating items that had already been purchased and shipped to buyers across the country.

I'll bet it's a bigger problem than most ebayers realize, but the best thing you can do is look into a seller's account history before bidding.

My guess is %10-%15. There was a guy in Toronto who stole Canadian $ 3 million worth of merchandise from the warehouse he worked over a period of years, and he moved a lot of it on eBay. I imagine there are other big fish out there, not just small time thieves who are using eBay.

I would say about 75 % since there are some honest people out in the world trying to just make some extra cash.

I would say at least 25% there are honest people on there that get nice things legit. I wish I knew where they got them, I need to sell more than my old clothing on there!
