Advantage? The feeling you get inside that you are making a difference in peoples lives, that you are respected and needed by the community. A good nurse can work very independantly, but still be a very important part of a team. You can change peoples lives. There is never a shortage of job positions to choose from. Yes, the pay is excellent...I have a two year degree and cleared 80,000 last year working four days a week. BUT...there are too many people getting into nursing for only the reason of money. Those other things should be what is important to you, not mearly the money.
Now..Disadvantage. Long hours, weekends and holidays, nasty, mean doctors (although some are jewels), Being with people and families as they die. (This however can be very rewarding).
Think about. Talk to nurses out there before you commit to this and be sure that you are doing it for the right reasons.

The pay is fairly good, there is a need for nurses right now, and you get to help people.
