Most people do not get seasick on cruise ships -- they're so big you don't even feel the motion after a little while. I have a friend who DOES get seasick, though, and she swears by those accu-pressure bands you can get (also those ear sticker-things). She's used both and had really good luck with them.
My only motion-related issue on cruises is that it feels like the GROUND is rocking after I get OFF the ship... but that usually goes away in a couple of days.
Have a wonderful time -- I'm envious!! Princess is a wonderful cruise line, and the Alaskan cruises are beautiful.

When I took a cruise in Alaska I took dramamine which helped it also helped to eat at the earlier sitting so my stomach did not get to empty as this only exaserbated the situation. Luckily the water was pretty calm so unless you get sea sick easily you should not have a problem. Have fun I had a great time.

Transdermscope - Prescription only.
This is a small round patch that you place behind your ear. It releases medicine slowly and lasts about 3 days. I get motion sick on a merry-go-round; my doctor prescribed "Transdermscope" and it was great. On the first night, we hit a storm and the boat was really moving up and down ... I didn't get motion sick, but I did feel like I drank a bit too much.
Dramamine works but makes you drowsy ... there's also Mezoneme ... again makes you sleepy.
Last trick ... if you have no med's ... fresh "Ginger" helps motion sickness (if they serve sushi, there's fresh ginger).
Have fun on the cruise.

Any time you are far enough out in the ocean that you cannot see the shoreline, you are likely to get seasick. You can buy Meclizine over the counter....brand names are Bonine or Dramimine. However, if you're not used to it, you may become very sleepy. Have a wonderful cruise and stay safe!

If you get motion sickness riding in the car, you will have a great tendancy to be airsick and seasick........I have motion sickness and take Bonine (it's much better than Dramamine and you're not drowsy).....Look for it in the pharmacy by the Dramamine and have a great trip..............

you will be in the Inside Passage most of the time and the water is usually calm. Get a cabin in the center of the ship on a lower deck to reduce the effect of water movement
