I doubt that it is a stage. There is something that is different in your child's life--something that has change to cause this behavior change. You will have to try to figure it out. I knew someone who child's sleeping habits changed.--- turns out the babysitter had changed. My friend took her child to the doctor because the child wouldn't sleep at night. The child was tested. In fact this babysitter was watching a number of children and all the parents got worried because their children weren't sleeping at night. These children were being given paregoric at the babysitter's and were sleeping nearly all day at the babysitter. The parents were very upset because they trusted the sitter. Be careful who watches you child. This babysitter got in a lot of trouble because the police got involved. Are you all or someone else allowing the child to drink caffeine drinks?. Is the child dehydrated from the heat during the day? Has something emotionally upset the the child? Has there been a change in the caregiver? Check for food allergies. Food allergies can effect a child in this way too. Best of luck trying to figure it out.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. My son is 24 months and we had the same problem a while back, yes it is just a stage! At least we think so. He would play up all the time because he knew he could get what he wanted by throwing a fit, eventually we got wise and did not give in. We just let him cry and while that was hard to do, to hear your baby cry that much, it done the trick. He learnt that he would not get his way when he threw a fit, and now goes to bed 1st time everytime!

Apart from the other factors, such as excessively hot weather, a point to be noted is whether she is cutting her molar teeth. If she is, then that is probably the reason. If she isn't, and if this pattern of sleeping late for no apparent cause persists, it could be ( but not necessarily is ), a harbinger of hyperactivity.

Yes, I think it is no cause for serious concern. I went through the same thing with my boy. At that age he did the same things you are describing. The older he gets the more consistent his bedtime and actual sleep hours are. Also, I try to limit his napping during the day. Maybe if you try this it will help. How long are her naps?

Does she nap during the day? If she does you might try eliminating the naps. I did this and my daughter was in bed by 8:00 every night after wards.

I think it's just a stage. Both of my girls have had stretches where they just refused to sleep. My 5 year old is having one tonight. :D She's playing quietly in her room. Her door is open and she can leave if she wishes.
