Because it's a lot easier to bash an imaginary character from a fictional book than to go out and try to do "Christ's work", aka feeding the hungry, helping the homeless, taking care of the sick.
Not saying that some christians haven't dedicated their lives to such work, but many need to stop wasting their time getting worried over nothing when there is so many out there who need their help.

Believe it or not, even the author of Pinocchio caught h e l l (no pun intended) when the famous children's fable was first published, by those who saw hidden "evil" in the story.
Successful authors, like anyone else in "show business" have BOTH their fans and critics. The latter often are embittered people, envious of an author's successes......and that's primarily where urban legends are spawned towards the author and their story work---as a means of discreditment.

Poor Harry is ostracized because of his popularity.. the "magic is evil" the "thou shall not suffer a witch to live" is just something they rally around.
I have never heard of any mass demonstrations against Disney:
-Snow White's evil stepmother whom was a witch
-Three Fairy Godmothers in Sleeping Beauty
-Ursula the Sea Witch
-Beasts 'enchanted' castle
-Cinderella's fairy godmother
-the Genie from Alladin
-the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio
-Tinkerbell from Peter Pan
-Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia
-Mary Poppins and her magic umbrella
-Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - flying car
They find popularity of certain ideas threatening. Look at all the hubbub the DaVinci Code caused.......

... hold on now. Gepetto didn't consciously infuse a soul into Pinocchio, so Christians would feel that god consciously gave Pinnochio a soul, and as thus Pinnochio goes to heaven, because he's Christian.

Actually no one in christian in a modern time goes to heaven. Only the people who become christian and follow the Jesus right path old time ago will get into heaven successfully. All of you will just be burned in hell.
