Why does everyone always turn a simple question to illegal immigration. People this is the immigration forum not the illegal immigration forum, read the damn question before you put your anti or pro legal crap up, thank you.

I was adopted and grew up my entire life thinking I was of German and English decent...come to find out just a few years back, that I'm 100% Irish! I always celebrated St. Paddy's Day as a German/Brit, but wore the green and could even speak with a great Brogue...Now I celebrate the same, but with the knowledge that this is a true part of my heritage....A friend once told me after I advised her of my new found "country": "I knew you were Irish! You could always drink everyone else under the table." A backhanded compliment....maybe....but quite appropriate at the time.

I don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day and I'm not Irish. My daughter is partially but I don't think she really cares either, other than wearing a green shirt. My mother in law wears orange. Anyone who actually is Irish should know what that means :)

I have read that England displaced more Irish citizens than Hitler did the "chosen ones". Being of Irish descent myself, I can say in all honesty... No one's genepool is safe as long as the "Sons of Ireland" on are the job.
There are more mixes of Irish with "whatever" than any other race in history.
And ya know? It ain't a bad thing, either. The only flag displayed in my home is the flag of the Republic of Ireland.
Pog ma thoin!

Well, I'm not Irish and would never wear anything that said "I'm Irish", but I sure celebrate St. Patrick's day. Even when I was a kid it was a great excuse to pinch people.

Nope. I was ostracized this past year for not wearing any green. I'm not at all Irish. Sometimes I'll have a corned beef sandwich and a beer, but just because I like them. I do celebrate Christmas even though I'm an atheist.

I'm part Irish...so St. Patricks Day is a fun one...but being a typical American I am also part Ukranian, Austrian, Cherokee, English...and Irish...
And I am a born legal American!

Yeah that is a bit wrong. A bit like capitalists celebrating the labour day holiday, or republicans (in the true sense of the word, not as an an american political party) celebrating the queens birthday.

I was under the assumption that we were celebrating a man and his works?? He is considered a Patron Saint....March 17 is the day he died....I honestly have always considered St. Patrick's Day more of a religious holiday.....I think after time it became the holiday we have today.....(green,shamrocks etc.)

I am part Irish. Do not celebrate anything but wear green to keep from being pinched, when I was a kid anyway. Claim my eyes are my green since then.
Who pinches anyway?
