Yes Heated. My mom always heated syrup and that's normal for me.
I have to ask the waitress to heat it up in the microwave all of the time. That is when traveling, because I would much rather make pancakes, waffles or French toast at home. Are they trying to change that to Freedom toast? Whatever! That's just ridiculous.

Heated maple syrup may have a stronger/sweeter flavor and some people in my family prefer this way, but I find that heating the syrup makes it too thin and it soaks in my pancakes, making them mushy. It all depends on where you are from (Midwesterners are more likely to carry on the tradition?), but do what you like best.

No.
Heating the syrup makes the bottle into a gushing liquid fountain not consisten with the name. There is a reason why the substance is called maple syrup instead of molten maple liquid.

You shouldn't have to if your pancakes are nice and hot. The syrup just melts right in.
But, on the otherhand - if you are going to use buttered syrup...I think that would be a good idea!
Yum...I love pancakes!

I always heat the syrup. Why put cold syrup on hot cakes? It would totally ruin them for me. How else would the butter melt?

It depends if it is good maple syrup I usually will, if it is just log cabin or something like that I don't bother.

Well, I thought most of the time everybody warmed it in the winter and served it cold in the summer. That's what our "clan does".
