Phone calls. You get more information from calls, such as being able to detect tone and sarcasm... and generally, a 3-5minute phone call is cheaper than a text message these days. You can say and get across a lot more than you can in ~150 characters.
It also allows you to know for sure that the person got the message, and you get an instant response.
My final reason for preferring a phone call is "dat i h8 txt tlk wit a pashn.lolz."

I prefer phone calls because texting costs ten cents each and I also like to hear the person that I am trying to get a hold of.

Definitely text. The less chat, the better. Keep it simple. If they have something to say that they can't text, they'll call. But just the day to day jokes, checking up or random thoughts... definitely a text rather than a call.
Also, I find the people who hate texting, hate it because they suck at it.

Text because you can say whatever and not have to worry about how the person will sound when you tell them what you have to say.
The only bad thing is that you have to pay for the messages you send and receive (can you believe it)...and if you don't have unlimited text messaging youy would have finished 500 text messages in 1 week!...lol...

I like text for short messages... like you really just want to say hi. Or if you know the person is at work... just text them to call when they get off work... But other than that I prefer phone calls. When you get me talking usually I won't shut up... : ) But my friends are even worse than me...

I prefer e-mail. Texting is stressful - you have to drop everything and it interferes with what I am doing. I feel that I am at the other person's beck and call. That can also be true with the phone.
In an e-mail, I know that the person has chosen to open it and take the time to read it. I can type a larger message.

Phone calls are more personal. You can hear the persons voice and reactions to things you may say or share. Text messages is more like business, an air of sophistication and who needs that this day and age...not me.

I think phone calls. I don't have a problem texting, but it's just easier to talk. Even if I don't reach the person, I can leave a voice mail.
