What problems have illegal immigrants caused in the U.S.? Yes they have done wrong but what are the problems?

Please don't state that the problem is that they are illegal but what are the problems that they cause in the U.S. For example, some say over crowded schools and hospitals. Others say, increase in crime. Please have a reliable resource i.e. a website that keeps track on this or newspaper that points that out.

Also, I don't understand how illegals don't pay taxes because whenever anyone works, they also get deducted for tax??? People say they arent paying taxes and well are they? Please have a resource for this too.

Again, resources, no more claims.

They are mostly law abiding.
I live in a small town.They don't effect me.

I don't think the illegals are the problem unless they haver false ID. Companies that hire illegals are the problem if they knowingly hire them. There is no way to know how badly these people are treated in wages and the employer does not have to keep records, because he can lie about how many hours they worked and pay them whatever he wants...no unemployemt tax, no social security...it's fraud and a form of slavery.

Think about what people say all the time, "they just do the jobs no one else will do". That's fine, except from years of doing this the standard wage is decreasing for legal workers. I used to work in a beef plant when i was 20 and I got $7.20 an hour (not bad for back then, with inflation that's about $15 an hour todays wages. It was physically demanding, dirty, and dangerous work. So the companies processing the meat, through attrition and union breaking, now pay $10 an hour (I doubt illegals get this much, they have no rights). It's work that few legals will do for that wage, because there has been no major mechanization of the beef industry...it's still dangerous, dirty, demanding work. so my point is that the companies are basically outsourcing this work and paying less for labor (as well as insurance, etc). I worked with Indians in the NW, the ones I worked with were underprivleged and were trapped in the local job market. The wage for a certain job evolved over time to a certain point and a new illegal group came in and did it for half the wage, These Native Americans would not do this work for half of what they had before (it wasn't a lot anyway)..both of these are examples of the illegals doing jobs no one else will do. The wages of these workers would raise the costs of these goods, but don't you believe that a person should get a reasonable wage? This is like saying sweat shops are ok, because i can get cheap stuff. I put the blame squarely on the employers...If there tens of thousands or even millions of illegals getting medical, welfare from us (I say us because we all pay for it through taxes and higher fees), it's because there is something for them here, someone will hire them...if there was no work for illegals, there would be very lilltle problem

There was an article posted by MSN on aug 3rd that said 70% of illegals at Parkland hospital were illegal. The problem is that Parkland is a county hospital paid by tax payers. They get the care for free. They have over 16,000 births a year and 70% are illegal according to the article. Medicare only pays for the birth, not the prenatal care. Title 5 only covers about 5 million for the prenatal care but Parkland spent over 50 million on costs not covered by the government. The problem is this hospital funds come from taxes of homeowners, not sales taxes. A study done by the Center for immigrants in 2002 said that illegals use 2700.00 more each in government services than what they paid in taxes. Its an economic issue here. If they dont do enough work in mexico to survive they are not doing enough here. I dont hate mexicans, its just that their culture is to have many children and have the moms stay home. I would love to stay home but I pay too many taxes paying for illegals so I have to work, otherwise I would mooch off the system which is not right. There are american citizens who are elderly and not with air conditioners. They are too proud to ask for government assistance. Its not the american way to get government assistance unless you really need it, but mexicans refuse to work just because they are pregnant.

It depends on the person - some cause no problem and some
do, just like legal people do.
Most discussion is about the wrong thing. We all come from
immigrants and its good for the country to a certain point, but
preference should be given to folks trying to immigrate legally
and the ones that come in illegally slow the chances for those

I personally know about 30-40 illegal aliens in this country, and they're not only from Mexico, but Brazil, Peru, Colombia; In order to be able to pay taxes, you need to secure a social security number; a couple of years back, that was a simple process for the illegals who wanted to work "on the books" in order to secure a green card...That's now changed;

Actually you dont just have to have a social security number to pay taxes, my boyfriend is from Mexico and he has a green card and they have a Tax identification number that they use like a social security number, I know this because he has his own buisness, and he went through the IRS, so no not all immigrants dont pay taxes, and as for your other question about what are they doing wrong, i don't see the problem either, what everyone's problem is
