When I lie down at night, my head feels like it is getting squished. Lately, it has been happening when I am standing up and it makes my eyes feel like they are trying to bulge. What do you think is going on? I have mentioned it a little bit to my dr., but she doesn't have any ideas. I also experience some heart "flutterings" from time to time. This is really starting to concern me because I am not that old.

Your blood pressure could be really high. Are you getting light headed or dizzy? I was thinking migraines until the heart fluttering. You should consult another doctor as soon as possible. If you're blood presssure stays too high for too long you could have a stroke or heart attack...no matter how old you are.

Run it past your doctor again, but this time, don't mention it "a little bit". Tell her flat out that you're concerned that something is seriously wrong and are wondering how to proceed with diagnosing this. Doctors aren't mind readers. The average doctor allots about 7-9 minutes per patient, so if you have something to say, you have to be clear. You don't want to miss a medical condition because you're embarrassed to talk to your doctor. Believe me, nothing embarrasses these people! They've seen everything!

There is a hormone that can affect the production of all the other hormones, and it is insulin. If your doctor cannot find any other cause for your problems, ask your doctor for a fasting insulin blood test . Ask for a copy of your results. 10 or higher is abnormal for an adult.

If that comes up negative, get checked out for yeast.

There is information about both of these conditions at www.hufa.org.

It could be migraines, but you should go back to your doctor until you get a good answer. Be persistent. Since you're profile is Dr. Pepper, maybe you're drinking too much Dr. Pepper. Excess caffeine, sugar or artificial sweeteners can cause migraines.
