sand inside a canvas or burlap bag. also, if your knuckles get cut and bleed, rub salt on the cuts. it hurts, but can make your hands tough.

"The old bare knuckle boxers used SHEEP PISS & ALUM CRYSTALS, ( and NO I haven't got clue how or who collected the bloody sheep piss!!)

This was rubbed into the hands, knuckles etc AFTER punching practise NOT before.

Now this stuff isn't quite as easy to come by, but talking to the old former British Middleweight

Champ "Jock McAvoy" The Rochdale Thunderbolt! (quite a few years ago now).. He said that the best substitute for this concoxion is Methylated Spirits.. (the 'bluer' in colour the better).. Now although I haven't used the Original mixture.. 'Meths' worked very well.. How good in comparison I don't know. but it did (does) the job OK.

The trick is to do some punching practise against a fairly rough surface. (some of the modern punch bags are very smooth), until the knuckles are a tiny bit 'red' (not raw and hanging with bits of bloody flesh from them), then rub in the meths quite hard, and leave it to dry.. It takes about a month of three or four times a week, and your hands get quite tough.

(If the pain gets too much .. you can always drink the meths!!)..

That will take care of the actual surfaces of the hands..Next the inner knuckles and bones.."

kill the nerves in your hand. like a jujitsu artist would. Use a kendo stick if you don't grind your knuckles on your desk right now!!! START! just kidding but you getm y point the more stress you put on your nerves the more they are able to handle. i know this works cause ther more you punch the better your body becomes at handling the pain. but grinding your knuckles on things and hitting hardthings makes your hands take it better. REmember you won't be able to punch trough a brick wall physically impossible unless your wearing plated gloves which is cheating. So don't punch a brick wall to hard start of with wood just tapping it hard enough just so it hurts. tahn when thats done start on brick. We had to learn to so this with out palm. We went through rice. than sand. than pellets. And if you let up on your training it goes away so make sure you keep steady with your practice. I hope thats enough information if not you should email me. psycho_fred_79@hotmail.com. Im a martial arts instructor mainly in Kung-fu but am half of a CQC teaching duo any way i have way more information but that is what is apparent good luck.

I did much of this long before you were born.
I'm a month away from 50 now.I did lots of breaking,wood,brick,
etc.I spent over 30 years in Martial Arts, and fought in over 50
Tournaments.Quite a few "International" events.
You are a kid,you, like all kids,you don't think ahead.Same as me when I was a kid.
At 50 my hands are a mess, arthritis, calicum deposits & nerve
damage. Not easy to continue my trade as a toolmaker.Every
morning I have to soak my hands in hot water to get them to
loosen up.What do you think they will be like in 10 years?
Are you planning to make a living as a fighter? If so what will
you do after age 25 or 26? thats when things start to slow down.
I fought till age 40,but I was considered an exceptional
fighter. But I did not fight for a living. At age 40 the best I could do
was a fourth "overall" medal(The Internationals at Long Beach Ca).I was banged up so bad I was still limping three weeks later.

You are young,"take care of your hands". Even if I had all the
money in the world I could not undo the damage I did to mine.

Makiwara, a flat board wrapped tight in rope. Hit it flat and light,
then increase the power gradually untill your hitting it full on.
That will impact the bone and when it heals it will heal stronger,
like any broken bone will. .....be careful.....
