Now, what if I only believe parts of the “teachings”? They say that God knows what’s in my heart, so there is no way of fooling him. What if I can’t swallow the “whole tarantula”? What if my mind is opened past the point of no return???

Not a problem for God. Who among us believes 100%? We're all growing into our Christ likeness, its not all at once. What we can't swallow today, may be delicious tomorrow. Relax and enjoy.

It depends on what parts of the "teachings" you don't accept, I think. At rock bottom, Christianity means but a single thing: that Jesus is the savior of the world, and that by His death He has made it possible for human beings to be right with God. Theories about how that works, or about other matters, are much less important. God does know what's in your heart, and there's certainly no way of fooling Him. But even the apostles doubted, and there have been many Christians over many centuries (even while Jesus was walking on earth) who found it hard to believe "everything". Thus the cry from one such man- "Lord, I believe, forgive me my unbelief". If you doubt a certain point, the best thing to do is to go and research the matter. Study the Bible and books of theology. If after that you're still not sure, then lay the question aside and don't bother with it anymore, because you can certainly ask God Himself someday what the true answer is. Bless you!

"What if I can’t believe 100%?" - Then that usually means you are using your free will and questioning the illogical - keeping authorities on their toes.
"Now, what if I only believe parts of the “teachings”? They say that God knows what’s in my heart, so there is no way of fooling him. What if I can’t swallow the “whole tarantula”? What if my mind is opened past the point of no return???" -- GOD does know everything - except HE gave us free will, because HE does not want puppets, but people that CHOOSE to follow, DO follow - the teachings -as best a human can.
Of course this answer only applies to a few of the people on this planet. GOD gives you any of the many human generated ways to reach heaven. That being said - the fact JESUS came to explain in person what to DO, and die for us, motivated many to follow HIM.
Still the goal is heaven, humans fight over the path, and rules due to wanting some control in the process.
Don't be overly concerned with humanities inability to control it's baser urges - stay focused on your goal of being the best you can be in any given situation.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

If you don't believe part of the teachings of God, you don't believe any of them. No one's mind can be opened that far. I have an incredibly open mind, but I still know the truth.

Take for example the crime of murder. You could have people from all walks of life tell you the reasons why it might be a good idea. But no matter how much our finite minds try to rationalize, murder is still taking a life that's not ours to take. It's still wrong and that's the truth.

What of God's word do you not believe? It's our nature as humans to accept what we like and ignore the rest. Ignoring the situation won't change the outcome. If you do not accept all of Christ's teachings - you will be eternally sorry when the time comes!

If you don't understand things the Word says, find someone you can trust who does. A pastor or Christian friend. I promise you will not be sorry if you will accept what He has for you.

So what if you can't believe it? It means you are thinking for yourself. You aren't just going to go along with what anyone tells you. Yes, your God does know what is in your heart and your mind. Is it bad to think for yourself? I don't think it is. Why shouldn't you question things? I think all people question about their religion. They may not admit to it but they do. Those that truly say they have never questioned their religion are either lying or they are sheep that follow without question. They can't think for themselves and have to have approval for everything before they do it. Now if you are saying that you can't believe in the important stuff about your religion then you may want to look for a new religion. I mean if you are a Christian and you can't believe that Jesus died for you sins and then came back after 3 days, you need to be looking somewhere else for a religion. So if you are not believing that Noah could have taken 2 of every living thing in that ark, well lots of people have a problem believing that. That doesn't mean you are bad nor that you need a change of religion.

I guess I would have to ask, what is it that you don't believe. If it is the trinity, or hellfire, then you are not alone. Those are not Bible teachings. There are many lies and untruths taught about God.

You are correct in saying that God knows what is in your heart. However, because of that, he could be leading you to learn the truth about him. It is important to come to an accurate knowledge of God because John 17:3 tells us our lives are involved. Once we gain accurate understanding of God and his will, we also build faith in his word and promises. We were born with a spiritual need but not with faith. In fact, “faith is not a possession of all people.” (2 Thessalonians 3:2)

We cannot create faith within ourselves by our own willpower. Faith is part of the fruitage of God’s holy spirit, or active force. (Galatians 5:22, 23) If our faith needs to be strengthened, pray for holy spirit. It is also proper to pray for more faith.

I am going to include a link to an article that you may find enlightening. It discusses the right reason for believing in God. Maybe it will help you.

My dad's girlfriend asked me the same kind of question one time.

I told her that God will work with that. The important thing is that you trust Him with something.

Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom, and these other things will be added unto you." (paraphrase)

There isn't anyone who is the perfect truster. So you haven't lost any ground on anyone. You trust Him for something. It means to me that you've decided to turn to Him, period. Eventually you will learn like most mature Christians that you can trust Him with a little more, then He proves Himself, and so a little more; you might not even be aware that you are doing it until you reflect on what just happened.

That's my experience anyway.

I hope that helped.

God can see your heart, so fear not. If you hunger and thirst for righteousness, if you desire the truth with all your heart, God knows it. In English "belief" can refer to specific possible facts, such as "I believe it will rain" or "I believe Jesus could read minds." It can also refer to "belief in," such as "I believe in your honesty" or "I believe in God's goodness." The latter meaning refers to having faith; the former refers only to probabilities. Everybody has mistaken beliefs about God; but "believing in" God, in the sense of trusting God, is the important matter. Errors are inevitable and will be forgiven.

Sounds like you recognize that religion is not perfect, but there is still a lot to learn from it.

Your description of your "selected beliefs" makes you a "non-believer". You either believe "I am the way to the Father" or you don't. There is no middle ground for waffling. Believe, have faith, and be guaranteed a place for your soul in heaven. Otherwise prepare for your soul to go to hell.
