If geese dont fly in even numbers, then why is one line longer than the other? I mean, work it out. If there's an odd number, then there will be one in front and two equal lines behind.
The two lines arent equal because the geese are constantly rotating who's in front and the longer line is the one that the next one comes from. They cross from the other side to the longer line and then rotate back to the front eventually.

There is always a "lead" goose in those V formations your talking about. As the lead goose tires, he simply moves out of formation to the side. Either side. Another goose takes over immediately. The formation changes as this happens. There will always be a lead goose but I have seen as little as 3 geese on one side and 8 on the other. There is no rhyme or reason to the number on either side. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure why the one line is longer, but they stay in a V because they are "drafting" like in car racing. If one bird falls out of line, 2 go with it and keep it company until it can pick up and fly again or until it dies. Then the 2 go on without it.

Because in a flock of geese there is always an uneven number of them , it's either 7, 11 or 13.

When geese migrate they have embedded in their brain the route that they must fly. They remember after their first migration.
They take turns being the leader and they fly in a v formation. When the leader gets tired he or she falls back in the formation.
Another one of God's Miracles.

Geese dont fly in even numbers (usually). It is normally an odd number, so that extra goose has to go somewhere!

The goose on the longer end of the line serves as a nurse in case another goose gets sick. She'll stay behind with it until it is cured or dies, and then catches up with the original gang or another one.
