This sounds like a complete scam! You can't directly import a post 1966 model year European spec vehicle into the US. It will be confiscated at the port if you attempt to do so.

Googling the name of the shipping company reveals a large number of newsgroup hits for car auction scams using that name. Not a good sign at all!

The post code for Mark Lane is wrong. It is in EC3R, but there's no 4NE that I can find. This isn't good either. Looking up the address on the Royal Mail's website failed. In other words, the address does not exist! Nor is there a lising there for the postcode EC3R 4NE

The post code for the address in Mansfield does jive with Coronation Street however it would not be any big deal to look that up on the Royal Mail's website.

IMHO, this stinks! I'd cancel any "deal" that you have pending until you can fly over there and inspect the vehicle. And I darn sure wouldn't send them any $$$ (or £££ in this case) until you inspect the vehicle! You can arrange shipping yourself pretty easily if it's a pre-1967 model year car. BTW, vehicles are seldom crated for ocean shipping. Virtually all are shipped "Ro-Ro"; Roll on, Roll off. Only high-value collector cars are crated. This is expensive and needs to be handled by an expert.

You could try www.bt.co.uk and use the find a number option to speak to the local Police department. Why would you want to buy a car from the UK anyway? I thought they were cheaper in the States?
