So many parents don't ACTIVELY teach their kids these days. Sometimes it's because they are tired (2 parents working long hours), sometimes because they are clueless, other times because they are lazy. Each child is different. Some you have to actively spoil to make them spoiled. Other kids, it's easily in their nature. It's not always a matter of just not spoiling them sometimes. Some kids need to be dealt with through lectures, examples (show them the kids who have nothing), time outs, consequences. That takes a lot of effort (I'm exhausted with it!).
Unless teaching a child to be a good person is a parent's top priority, lessons such as learning not to be a "gimme" sort of kid, fall by the wayside.

Children today are raised to believe they are the center of the universe-- instead a very small part of this world. They are not taught to consider other people -- only themselves. It is mostly the parents to blame, but also society in general also is at fault.

Do you mean spoiled?
Now a days a lot of children tend to grow in families where both parents work or are raised by single parents. In either case a sense of guilt may drive parents to give their children a lot of material things to compensate for their lack of spending time with them. Also, with a child protective service agency as vigilante, a lot of parents avoid correcting their children for fear of being accused of domestic violence. Experts also do not help, by telling parents to avoid using physical force and instead talk to their children. In many cases children need both, physical and verbal treatment, in my opinion.

Spoilt? I think it is more like the parents sharing love and kindness to their kids in their own way. In my family, we arent very affectionate, so if my Dad buys me credit for my phone (or something) that is his way of showing he cares. I know it seems really stupid, but seriously, every family is different.

Lack of morals. A parent should not spoil their children, but this happens because they know not how to make the child happy without giving in to the childs every whim.

My daughter is somewhat spoiled she gets what she wants when I can get it.When I can't get it she gets sad.But she also knows daddy will do what he can.She is very well behaved and she knows and follows the rules.I tucked her in last night and noticed her room looked like tornado had gone through there. So I told her she had to clean it when she got up,she started making excuses she said she can't because we were going to my brothers house for a bbq.I told her we was not going anywhere untill that room was clean. She got mad at me rolled over and went to sleep. This morning she asked about going to the bbq I asked if the room was clean she say no.I told her to get busy.Well she cleaned her room and then it rained on us during the bbq.

Because the children do not feel really needed, just wanted. Any person needs to know he is needed to have a truly happy life. Tell the children what their duties are, and see that they do them and they will feel needed and not be "spoiled".

people are so scared of being turned in for child abuse that they don't discipline their children at all. either that or they have a chip on their shoulders about the way their parents raised them and vowed to never be like that, and ended up being doormats to their own kids.

lack of discipline, some laws prohibit this and so parents result to getting them whatever they want and also letting the kids take over and run your life and tell you what todo and try to be a smart *** to you, that is right parents these days have no kind of balls about them, pathetic
