Hello friend,
You asked a very important question. And if you'll give me the time, I'll tell you what the Word of God says about Salvation. Or as you put it, "converting".

The Bible has a lot to say about Salvation and some folks simply do not take the time to read all about it. I will show you some places you can look to get started.

Using whatever version you're comfortable with, please check out these passages.
1) God's Book says one mush "HEAR" the word: (see Jn.5:24) (Ro.10:14)(Jn.6:45). Please note that to "Hear" does not mean you have to hear audible words. Deaf folks can have the Gospel communicated to them perhaps through sign language foe example. Hear basically means the Word is communicated and received.

2) A person who's heart is receptive Will "BELIEVE" what they've "Heard". (see Acts 16:31)(Jn.6:47) and (Jn.20:31). Look also at (Jn.6:45) to see how the Father "draws" you to Himself.

3) A person will "REPENT" when they've heard and believed the Gospel. (see Acts 2:37,38) (Luke 13:3) (Acts 3:19). Repentance is turning away from sin and toward God.

4) A person will also "CONFESS" (see Matthew 10:32) but don't forget verse 33 while you're there. Then check out Romans 10:9,10). This is a hard thing for some folks because they may be shy or timid in front of their friends or family. But Jesus is more than able to strengthen them.

5) A person will be "BAPTIZED". Many many people get caught up here. Some want to prove a doctrine or put you under a legal system of forced obedience, but friend, it is not like that in God's Book. Biblical Baptism actually has two parts. Mans part is to be Immersed in water for the remission of sins. (Acts 2;38 etc.)
God's part is done by God the Holy Spirit when He baptizes you into the body of Christ. Please read 1.Cor.12:13.

Friend, this is a very short look at what is involved in Salvation. I prefer the words Jesus uses in Jn.3:3 "BORN AGAIN".
Salvation is being Born Again or sometimes called the new birth.

I am not presenting a formula or a set of do's and don'ts in order to get to Heaven, nor am I saying that the above is set in a certain order or ritual you follow and get Saved. But rather, I've listed some helps for you to consider as you search God's Book.

Don't forget to ask the Father for His help as you read, otherwise
you'll be depending on human understanding. The Bible is a spiritual Book and can ONLY be understood with God's help.
Please read 1Cor. 2:12-14 emphasis on vs 14.)

This is a lot friend, but well worth your time. Where you are for Eternity depends on your response to Jesus.
Blessings,
2 Tim. 2:7

You should talk to the Pastor/Minister at your church and set up a meeting with him. He can explain the basics of Christianity to you and you can decide if you would like to continue on your path. He/She will probably tell you about the denomination you are also attending. Each denomination has their own theology. On the super basic side. You except Jesus in your heart. But the above statement is also true.

Very simple:

1 - Admit to and agree with God that you are a sinner. You have completely missed the mark of perfection.

2 - Accept and believe on Jesus Christ and his death as payment in exchange for your own eternal death.

3 - Thank him for this precious gift and his grace. Accept his forgiveness of all your past sins.

4 - Invite Jesus through the Holy Spirit to run your life from this point forward.

5 - Ask him for guidance and direction.

6 - Get and read the Bible. Start in John. Get a translation you can understand. NIV, the Message. Go to www.biblegateway.com to read until you get one in print. There are Bible reading plans there, too.

7 - Get to church. Get in a Bible study. Get busy. It's important to be active in the church. Find some way to serve. God works through our service and teaches us. It's also a great way to build a network of fellow believers to support you in your new walk.

God bless!!!

Pray. Seek the Lord in honest conversation from your Heart. Start reading the Bible, beginning with the Gospel of John. Ask God to reveal things to you according to His will.
Then seek counsel from the Pastor of A Full Gospel, Bible believing Church.

Romans 10:9-13 Read it and do what it says now and you will become a Christian. Then get in a Bilbe believing Bible preaching Church and live your life for Jesus.

Simple:

1. Admit that you are a sinner as the Bible says, "All have sinned..."
2. Acknowlkedge that God sent Jesus Christ to the Cross to take the punishment that we deserve for those sins.

3.Make a decision to repent of sin and ask God for forgiveness based solely on what Christ did on the cross, (our self efforts are useless).

4.Receive Christ personally into your heart by asking Him for the Holy Spirit.
5. Rejoice because your name is written in God's Book of Life and you have eternal life!

You can have the same experience at any number of social gatherings, where you will not be required to turn your brain off to get it. If you must go to church, try a Unitarian Universalist church.

I would study and learn about Jesus Christ and make my decision based on that, not the warm fuzzies you get from people going to church. Its nice, but being Christian is about accepting and following Jesus, not any particular group of people.

Say this prayer:
Dear Lord,
I know I am a sinner. I believe that you came to earth to die on the cross for my sins. Jesus, please come and be Lord of my life. Let me to learn what it is to follow in Your ways.
Amen.

(That's it!)

Once you do this, though, I highly recommend you call someone in your church. They will want to celebrate and talk with you on your decision!

May God Bless You!
Robert
