I have never heard such a myth and I have a banana a few times a week. Maybe someone has been having fun with you?

No, this is a myth that has spread because of the old fear caused by the "banana spiders" that use to poison farmers in the more tropical regions whe nthey would harvest bananas, but there are no such things inside of the banana itself, nor are there any around the banana when it gets to your grocer.

are you talking about that brown part at the bottom or inside the banana? I doubt it once they get to the market, but probably on the trees and in transit. God, now I'm not sure if I wanna eat a banana.
