A year ago we were adopted by our first cat and I had to learn that cats want to climb, especially to get up high and feel safe. Every time she went near my plants (not tall enough to climb but she would play with them) II would say firmly NO and then pick her up and move her to another area or hold her.
I decided I had to let her climb something which meant she went from the piano to the top of the grandfather clock, where she would sit and watch the world. In time she found other things to climb like the linen hutch, etc. But she is not playing with my plants.
Climbing is very nature to cats to be able to look for prey in the wild. Find a way for your kitten to climb and your plants to be safe. Until then I would move the plant to an area of the house you can monitor closely.
What else does she have to climb? Get one of those climbing trees or stairs for her.

Plants. That doesn't mean no pets. Plants cool the place and gives a green screen.Everybody can enjoy a garden; but a pet , only the owner andnear ones get the pleasure of a pet.

Sprinkle pepper in the dirt and wrap some of the lower leaves gently with aluminum foil. Cats can't stand foil...don't know why.
The pepper worked for me during kitten-potty training. My kitten wanted the plant dirt more than the litter box. Pepper did the trick!

Try putting pine cones in the pot around the plant. Cats usually don't like the way the cones feel on their feet and stay off.
By the way, make sure the plant isn't poisonous.

Blow up ballons big as you can (so they pop easy) put them on or by the plant (s). This will soon scare your pet away from the forbidden area!
Be sure not to leave the pop balloons laying around for children or pets.

place moth balls in the dirt around the plant and she will stay out of it, they can not stand the smell and won't go near the plant
