I like to wait a couple of days and let the pup's personality lead to a name choice. It gives you a chance to really pick a name that fits the dog.

I agree with Kevin. It's hard to know until you know the dog. I named one dog Circe, because her adorableness lured men in, and then she nipped them. I named my Pug Mooby, after the Golden Calf in the movie Dogma, because she really set herself up as a golden idol to be worshipped. One dog was Elvis, because he waggled his hips and strutted just like a little king.
Once your cousin gets to know her puppy, the perfect name will come to her.

I got a yorkshire terrier a year ago and named him beau. I would name him alphie for a boy and Lilly or princess for a girl.
