ok, I have naturally Dark brown hair, I tried dying it a lighter brown using Clairol 106 Natural Medium ash blonde, it came out light brown and I left it for a couple of months, I then really wanted to go blonde so i used Clairol 103 Natural Light Neutral blonde, I didn't use bleach before hand, and I liked the colour, the only part I didn't like was it only dyed my roots and the rest was the same light brown colour. I didn't want this so i dyed it dark brown. I still want to go blonde but I'm not sure how to, I have very oily hair (i wash it everyday and it still is oily towards the end of my 24hr cycle) so it drying up doesn't bother me. I have read some other people's answers and i think due to Living in Australia I have never heard of Sallys or Manic panic. Please help!

In order to go from dark to blonde, you need a two-step process. First, you need to bleach your hair... effectively turning it white. Then, you'll use a Clairol-type product (like what you've been using) to PUT the specific color you want back into your hair. I recommend going with 30 volume Kaleidocolor (the blue one). Do some research over the internet - you'll need the Kaleidocolor powder and the Clairol Pure White 30 volume liquid (usually found separately). Mix together according to instructions, apply to hair and then wait about 40 minutes. After you wash it out - your hair should be white, not orange. If it is orange, you didn't leave it in long enough. Just condition your hair, and try the Kaleidocolor again (perhaps with a lower solution, like 20volume).

Do not use Clairol because that is like the worst brand in hair color. The same thing happened to me when I used a dark burgundy shade from Basic Instincts and my hair went completely black. After that, I had to bleach my hair several times to get the black color out. That said, you really need to see a professional hairdresser because the only choice that you have is to bleach your hair.

First off, DO NOT attempt to get your hair blonde with over-the-counter products. Dyes and bleaches are filled with antioxants that damage your hair. They also lack toners, which allows your hair to transit into lighter colors; which results in a brassy red color instead of the blonde you want. So start off with throwing the hair dyes out.

If you want your hair a satisfying color of blonde, I recommend getting it professionally done at a good hair salon; I would recommend Gene Juarez, well known for it's great service and excellent feedback.

the colours you are trying are not appropriate for your hair type..the lighter color you used would naturally, lighten the roots and not the ends because color does not lift previous color that was left on the ends..sad to say. also, sometimes the box color you purchase in the store leave metallic dyes on the hair which act like a stain and are extremely hard to remove from the hairshaft and ends.. my advice..go see a pro and you will probably end up with the results your looking for...

I have naturaly blonde hair and it got darker over the years and I want to go back to my lighter color. So I got a at-home color kit and try to color my hair back to my natural color and my hair turned orange. I suggest getting a lot of blonde highlights to see if you like it at first and if you do talk to ur hairstylest about doing an all over color of blonde.

The only way to do that is to lighten your entire head or settle for a lot of highlights and I would go to a salon to do it. It's very damaging to your hair and you will need protien treatments if you lighten your whole head. Color will not life color that is why your roots lifted but not the rest of your hair.
