the reason there is a gap between even the poor in the United States and the poor of the other nations, is the U.S. is in God we trust. why is the U.S. a target for all the People of the world who need help? we have a Christian majority that gives to charity and a majority of loving and giving people. look at how south korea has begin to prosper since they have had such a large portion of their populace turn the Christianity.

That's a tough one. Sometimes the poor don't realize that money is just a tool and they pursue it as the goal. When they get some, they spend it foolishly because they desire to be able to spend freely like those who have more money. But a person needs to start from the beginning and take baby steps (saving, not spending foolishly) until they have a savings to use, by then they will have learned to use money as a tool, we'd hope! What do we really need to survive? When you are comfortable in not overspending what comes your way, it seems like magic and suddenly you have extra. Many people have never been taught how to save and invest, thinking it is for those with huge incomes, Not So! Every little bit adds up (and then there is compound interest, you make money off the interest already made on last month's amount...) It's more fun to do without and realize that you actually need very little to be happy. More stuff won't make you happier.

Because we are losing our middle class. In the early 1900s, a strong middle class of Americans began to emerge because of the industrial revolution. However, in the past 30-40 years, employers have constantly cut full-time employees in favor of part-time employees to whom they don't have to pay benefits. They have eliminated jobs in the US and moved them offshore. Now the illegals are further driving down wages so that American families have to work 2 or 3 jobs just to make a living. So the middle class we had in the mid-1900s has been greatly reduced by these forces.

not all poor people are lazy. i've been trying to get out of this rut but most of the time noone will hire me. after putting out about 50 job apps i finally got hired making 6 bucks an hour. there is such a gap because all the jobs have either gone to cheaper employees overseas or cheaper employees here in the states. i'm not poor by choice. i'm poor because i have no choice. i wish it was different

That gap you're referring to is called "The Middle Class". They pay the taxes the rich don't want to pay,and pay the taxes the poor can't pay. Without them, the system would collapse.

Yeah, it's a gap of a couple thousand or a couple million dollars. Count your blessings...name them one by one.
