Other people already said to make sure you treat all the furniture and and cloth or fabric items, carpets, curtains, toys, etc. Then do the shampoo, make sure you comb her hair with the lice comb and do that everyday for a few days, then re-shampoo her hair in 7-10 days. recomb. Afterwards, take an old pump hairspray bottle and fill up with Listerine. Spray her head everytime she walks out the door to go to school or at any of her friends houses. Listerine is a repellent the lice hate the smell and will not stay if they go onto her head. Also, try putting Skin So Soft on her head and wrap up hair in towel overnight the smell gets them and also the oil smothers them if she still gets after the shampoo. Unfortunately, people think lice are on dirty kids, but it's the clean ones that keep them because their hair is good and clean to latch onto. Don't worry, the Listerine smell goes away after it dries.

I've heard you can use coconut shampoo and conditioner daily on the hair cause the lice doesn't like the oils in it. And they also sell an electronic comb that detect and kill the lice without chemicals. I bought one of these for about $30 at Walgreen's. It is call a Robi Comb. If you can't find one at the local drugstores you can find them online. Try looking on Ebay, too. They work good if you use them like the directions say. They are expensive but worth the money since you spend that much on chemicals anyway. Hope this helps.

If you have done the hairwash the first and follow-up times, made sure every last nit was removed from the hair, put stuffed toys in bags, washed everything washable in hot water, and cleaned and covered any upholstered furniture (and keep her off it); then if I were you I would tie up her hair or otherwise cover it and tell the school she's wearing a hat until whoever else has lice gets rid of them.
Once she gets rid of them, though, you do have to do a head-check just about every day in order to head off any bigger problems that may go undetected later.

Have you treated the items in your home such as her stuffed animals, clothes, furniture, carpet, etc.? These things can live everywhere. I would put all the toys in a trash bag for a period of time (google lice remedies), same with pillows and cushions. Call a professional exterminator. It is a pain. My daughter had lice when she was a 2nd grader (many years ago) and her hair was waist length and thick. What a challenge!! Luckily we got rid of it within 2 treatments.
Best of Luck to You!!

First of all Lice is very hard to get rid of, if you do not do the treatment properly its almost inevidable that its gonna return. Doing the treatment means washing every sheet pillow blanket the whole nine yards, another great way is to spray everything carpets sofa's beds etc with lysol. good luck also in my experience the nix was the best for the hair treatment
