I have to add some about once a month. Got a 02' Dodge Stratus. Have to add about 1/4 gallon once a month. Everything else seems to check out. Put a cardboard under the car for a week and did not see any leaks except for the air conditioning overflow.

Are you losing it in the radiator or is the overflow bottle just getting low?

You will lose some coolant from the overflow bottle, especially if the cap is not on tight, and it is hot out, due to evaporation!

If you have a concern, have your cooling system pressure checked. It could be a water pump that is starting to leak, or it could be nothing!

The coolant has to be going somewhere if it's not dripping on the cardboard you laid out to catch it. The two likely causes are either evaporation through the overflow bottle or a bad head gasket. I'd recommend you have a compression test done, as this will rule in or out the head gasket.

You might have a slight head gasket leak, chrysler/dodge are known for this. In a real world, you shouldn't have to add antifreeze,
except maybe just a splash at each oil change.

Coolant system is a CLOSED and SEALED system. If you are having to add then you are losing it through your head gasket (meaning major interior engine work) or your engine is over heating and your are losing in through the over flow tank.

I would get it checked out by a mechanic ASAP.

It should not use it unless you have a leak in a hose or a head gasket that is bad. You can go to autozone and they can do a pressure test for free.
