Why is it that when we pray, the men hold their hands lower and the women higher? why is it that the men stand with their legs apart while the women stand with their legs together?

Well we have to take it just as it was ordered ............. but to satisfy ur curiosity, all i can say is if it isnt modest for ladies to sit on a chair or stand with legs apart (its common ettiqutes), then how come it is modest for prayers. can u offer salat decently, keeping ur hands where men keep, i can only imagine it but it doesnt feel right, somehow .............. maybe it is that the cloth material cling to ur belly, then the shape of ur bosoms will be revealing through ur clothes ......... i dont mean to offend u, but it doesnt feel right, and we have to be as modest as we can while praying ........ these matters have been well thought-of and those things have been removed which come in the way of modesty, so the best possible way of performing salat is available, and all that there remains is Purity.

The only similarity I know of in the different types (shia, sunni, ect) would be shoulder to shoulder. I hold my hands low but my Arab friends do the complete opposite. Also they kinda step on my feet in prayer (naturally I move them away and the try to close the gap). I think it might just be a cultural thing. Humans are creatures of habit.

Edit: "SOrry no offense but that sounds kinda grosse!!" if you see a true muslim prayer you would not think with your pants.
