Yes, you can, but there are much better methods. First of all, the powder makes their coat feel awful and smelly. Then you don't want to touch them. Also, seven dust isn't all powder, there are some fine grains in with it. If you get it in their eyes it is very painful and can give them a corneal abrasion. I'm a groomer, and I've seen a lot of dogs come in with eye injuries from seven dust, but it really kills fleas and ticks like crazy. Having said that, I would still try something else. It does really work well on carpets, but it can stain as well, so be sure to check a spot first. It would be much better to use something like carpet fresh that kills fleas and ticks. Good luck!

You can use it but there are safer methods for getting rid of fleas. I use K9Advantix on my dogs and it works great. I also bought some spray for my house and all I have to do is spray around the baseboards in the rooms that do not have carpet and I can spray the carpets with a light mist and close up the room until the carpet is dry. It is totally safe, easy and inexpensive. The cheapest place that I have found to buy K9 Advantix is at http://www.dog.com or http://www.drsfostersmith.com Good Luck! OH, Adams works pretty good too!

We used to put in on our dog all the time, but if your dog licks itself ever, it's not a good idea. There are safer flea meds on the market now.
As a sidenote, Seven's Dust nearly killed our cats. Keep it for what it was intened for, which is NOT your carpet.
