My dad is buying a house he has been approved for morgatge, and everything, he is now wating for a date to close thoe morgatge/deal. Though it has been one week since my dad had has talked with either his morgatge people, i think they are ignoring him, because his is african, and has some-what of acsent. everytime he calls they dont pick-up his calls and he has only a certin period of time before he has to move out of his apt. what should he do, ?, he asked me and i really dont know what to say i have never bought a house is this normal, even his realtor hasnt called?

Relax . It is so normal. It took nearly 5 weeks for me to get a call back from my broker with a closing date.

Since he has already been approved for the mortgage, the mortgage is not in question. Maybe all the inspections (city, zoning, fire, engineering,) are not done yet and a closing date cannot be given. Have him call again on Monday, and leave a message that he needs a call back.

It's probably because of his credit and financial situation - not his race. Either way is illegal to discriminate against. Go somewhere else and get a second opinion. It's ok even if he already signed some papers, only the closing docs are relavant.

I would have him go down there in person and see whats going on. No contact isn't good. If they still dont give answers I would start shoppping other places for his mortgage. (We had issues with a couple of mortgage places and we dropped them like a bad habit!) If his realtor doesn't called I would figture out whats going on there as well. They should be fighting or going out on a whim for your dad's business!

Instead of using the phone, have him go down and talk to them in person. If they won't get things moving, contact a lawyer
