yes it does. although there are many irregular pulses, the "shockable" pulse is called ventricular tachycardia and what happens on that is the ventricle pumps before it is completly filled with blood thus not pumping an adaqute blood volume to the body. and then the heart gets upset for not having enough oxygen, which is the pain from a heart attack(ami). so the bottom line is most irregular heart beats are assiociated with a heart attack, but if you are worried, call a doctor or if it is bad then an ambulance.

I suffer from both tachycardia and brachicardia (an abnormally fast, and slow heartbeat, respectively - and I hope I spelled them correctly).
My cardiologist assures me that I've nothing to worry about yet because my heart is quite strong, and although it beats irregularly, its rhythm is fine. Typcially irregular refers to your pulse rate (mine varies through out a minute, and I might have a resting pulse of 28 or nearly 200 depending on when it is recorded, but I'm forty years old so far, and have had this condition for at least 20 years).
There is some risk of a heart attack during a bout of tachycardia, but heart attacks are usually associated with a portion of the heart not getting sufficent blood flow and literally dying.

Irregular heartbeats are caused by different things. Mine caused me to have a heart attack because one side of my heart beats too slow and the other side tries to make up for it by beating too fast. Check with a doctor.

An irregular heart beat is usually due to an arrhythmia, and a heart attack is due to death of the tissue, in the heart muscle.which is medically called a myocardial infarction...

heart attack (myocardial infarction) can of course cause iregular heart beats. even other conditions like valve defects, thyroid dysfunction, tension, Electrolyte derangement (Potassium) certain medicines (like theophyllin-for Asthma) all can cause irregular heart beat
