why do people smoke if its going 2 hurt themselves and others???

awhile ago people didn't know any better because they didn't know that it was harmful, but now that people do y do they insist on trying it anyway. seems lately that people r worried about global warming maybe its cause of all the people smoking!!!!! we're not going 2 die from global warming we're going 2 die from all of the people that smoke....your killing yourselves and everyone around you, thanks, thanks a lot for killing us all

People take up smoking for a lot of reasons (all ridiculous IMHO):
1. so they are putting something in their mouth other than food (no self control or will power)
2. they think it is cool
3. peer pressure...their friends are doing it so they do it (I guess they'd jump off a building if their friends did that too)
4. that age old "invincibility" thing...cancer will NEVER happen to them
5. the belief that they can quit anytime they want
6. they grew up with smoking parents so think they should smoke too

I'm sure there are more but those are the excuses I've been given for why they started smoking.
