Hi. I have this beautiful painting and I cannot read the artist’s name. Would you happen to know who the artist is, or anything about the painting? Thank you.

The links are to the photos on Photobucket. Thank you again.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the signature over and over and still cannot be sure who it is. I thin the first letter might be the first name and then the last name maybe with an "M". I looked at Brian Grimm's painting and they look very diffeent from my painting--more man-like. This painting is very unlike that and his signature looks totally different.

I am really stuck. Thanks for input. Iappreciate the research!

Ok, I admit it. I am terrible with websites. I tried to go to the site to compare signatures of artists and I can't find the paitning pics. Can anyone help me find someone with the same signature as I posted? I'm willing to offer a 5% finder's fee when I find the artist, list on eBay and sell. 5% of final price, after fees. If it sells. Payment through PAYPAL.

hmm...(dons his Sherlock Holmes Detective cap)
...take a look at the Artist's signature again...
put it up on your screen and step back a little.

When I look at it, it looks as if the first letter is a large, fancy, "G" followed by what looks to me like an "i" notice the dot over the "i" and possibly followed by the letters "mm".
If I were to venture a guess, it would be that the artist's signature spells "Grimm" or something close to that.

That's my guess.

Ok, a subsequent Google search found this:
http://www.askart.com/askart/g/brian_grimm/brian_grimm.aspx

Brian Grimm: Born 1968 Lived/Active: Texas
Known for: western landscape with wildlife painting
(I can't seem to find any samples of his signature however)

More about Brian Grimm:
http://www.askart.com/AskART/artists/biography.aspx?artist=129557
http://www.whistlepik.com/Grimm/Grimm.htm
http://www.legacygallery.com/grimm.htm

If it IS him, this painting (link below) sells for $6000:
http://www.artnet.com/artwork/424356264/brian-grimm-in-the-shade.html

One thing that might lead AWAY from my suggestion of Brian Grimm however is that most of what he does, that I can see, is mostly outdoor, western landscape and wildlife paintings.
I'm not seeing any still life as your example depicts.

I must say though, I REALLY like his work!

Ok, take a look at this painting by Grimm and look in the lower right corner where the signature usually appears. I must admit the signature I'm looking at is nothing like the sample you took from the painting you have:
http://www.legacygallery.com/images/grimm_lookofcontentment.jpg
same thing in this one:
http://www.legacygallery.com/images/grimm_tetonsdawning.jpg
and you can really see the difference in this painting:
http://www.legacygallery.com/images/grimm_colesfindblakebear.jpg

So, based on this, it is NOT Brian Grimm unless he signed his name differently on the painting you have.

I also located:
Paul Grimm

Alan Grimm:

I really believe the signature on your painting is "Grimm"...
question is...which Grimm is it?

ADD:
Ok Violet, I saw your additional note.
I still think it looks like Grimm..but, that's just me...lol
Best of luck in finding out...but, I sure am curious now.

Signature is Grimm

http://web.artprice.com/artistsearch.aspx will take you to the listings of the 56 Grimms whose art sales they have recorded; use that as a base from which to search.

I would do a Yahoo or Google search using different variations of the spelling until you come up with a match. It shouldn't be that hard. How many different ways can you spell a short name like that that starts with an 'M'?

I bet if you took it to a museum or an art seller they would be able to help you. Sorry I couldn't.
