Yoga is stretching and posing. It serves to lengthen and helps to straighten or keep straight your spine.
Pilates is a series of repetitious movements that strengthen muscles. The reps usually are 100, but they start out as small, strong movements. The technique when done properly actually improves posture in only a couple of sessions.

Yoga is a five-thousand year old practice that originated in India. Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates during the World War to help rehabilitate soldiers.

Joseph Pilates based many of his moves from yoga. But his system focuses mainly on the core (the back and abdomen) and it is a purely physical practice. Yoga on the other hand, is an orthodox philosophy that unites the mind, body and spirit. I always encourage my students to treat their classes like "a meditation in motion".

I personally like yoga better, because it benefits me not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

You could be larger off doing pilates. Its a sequence of physical activities that strengthens your abs (center) and your again. I had alot of curb again soreness for years and I were doing pilates now for two years and the soreness is long past. At first its rough to do seeing that of the soreness however hold going and after approximately a month or two you're going to consider the change. I used to be going as soon as per week to the gymnasium and doing mat pilates. Yoga is usually stretching and steadiness, it is going to no longer be well to your again.

Yoga (Sanskrit word for union) is approximately 3,000 years old and originates in India (although it is intuitively natural regardless of culture). Yoga has over 900 documented movements but is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques and in other branches of Yoga can include study of ancient writings, meditation and community service.

Pilate's was original created by Dr. Joseph Pilate's to help bed rid-din solders to rehabilitate during their hospital stay. Pilate's borrows a lot from Yoga, but is characterized by "pumping" movements designed to improve posture and muscular endurance.

Both are excellent, but Yoga is much more diverse and holistic.
