Try getting in the shower with as hot of water as you can stand (but not too hot that it will burn you, of course). Stay under the hot shower and it will start itching so bad that you think you can not stand it but stay in some more and then it will stop itching eventually, then you can get out of the shower. This process will release histamines and that is what makes it stop itching. You will get relief for about 8 hours.
Take the medicine as the doctor ordered it.
I know it is hard but try not to scratch. Also trim your fingernails so if you do scratch you won't break the skin and make matters worse. Try putting on light gloves or put socks on your hands and RUB to relieve itching if you must. Put the socks on your hands especially at night so you won't scratch in your sleep.
Hope this helps, I know poison ivy/oak is miserable.

Once exposed it doesn't really "spread" it just seems that way. You should soak in a cool bathtub with some Aveeno Oatmeal bath for as long as you can. If you do not have any of this stuff you can put oatmeal in the tub, or just soak without adding anything to the water. Soak until your skin is all wrinkly and you are too cold. This will soothe your skin. Then put calamine lotion on the rash. It helps dry out the ooze. Be sure to keep as cool as possible. Heat and scratching make it much worse.

If you are on a prescription and it is not helping maybe you are very allergic to this and need to get a shot. Sounds to me like you need your parents to take you back to the doctor. In the mean while do not touch it and if you are applying medication to the sites wash your hand thoroughly after applying this medicine.
Good Luck! Also, No hot bathes, it will make you itch more.

Don't scratch it! That'll spread it.
