If the two men or women you spoke of were Mormons, then they are two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (of which I am a member). I was a missionary for two years in 2001-2003. I talked to several people and visited inside many people's homes. The only time I could think of when two missionaries should not enter a house would be if these missionaries are men (Elders) and were invited in by a single woman or women (meaning no man in the house), or if they were women (Sister Missionaries) invited in by a single man. That is a "Mission Rule". Missionaries have several rules to live by that normal members of our church do not, for safety and legal reasons. If that was not the case, then I'm not sure why, it is of course up to them to decide otherwise.

To being I replica words from the pro LDS internet web site, ""The doctrinal tenets of any faith are perfect understood interior a extensive context and thoughtful prognosis is had to comprehend them. ... some doctrines are better substantial than others and may be considered center doctrines. ... a hardship-free mistake is taking an obscure coaching it incredibly is peripheral to the Church’s objective and putting it on the very center. as an instance, the precise area of the backyard of Eden is a techniques a lot less significant than doctrine about Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice." the area defined contained in the Bible also would not tournament any area on earth at the moment. The Jews idea it changed into in Jerusalem, some declare it truly is modern-day in Iraq, Iran, Sri Lanka, and assorted different places. in case you comprehend precisely the position it truly is, please percentage it with us so all doubt could properly be bumped off. it truly is my opinion, that what changed into written contained in the Bible account changed into written it presented a surprising description. i'm no longer certain if the Bible description matches at the moment's area. Rivers replace, earthquakes take position, places get renamed, and so on. We also do not comprehend the attitude and comprehend-how of description. as an instance, Josephus had an totally diverse description for the backyard's area. His comprehend-how for sure changed into derived from his comprehend-how or attitude of how the rivers come jointly. the outline changed into that of the backyard even as Adam and Eve were there. we do no longer have an precise description for it when they left. For such, you'll ought to think about each geological adventure for each section. Throw contained in the flood, the seperation of the lands if it changed into once like Pangea, climate replace and the land being cursed. both way, how could a geological learn perceive one of those area?.... mockingly typing...i wager you may detect a 1/2 eaten fruit that hasn't decayed.

If they were women missionaries, and your buddy was a guy who was alone, the "sisters" wouldn't enter for safety reasons and rules they have decided to live by for the period of time they serve as a missionary. The same goes for the "elders" or young men with regards to women being alone.

never thought about it much, but you're right neither the Mormons nor Jehowas Witness ever come inside. I think it must have something to do with safety. For them and for you.

That sounds kind of odd, cuz I was a missionary for the Morman church for two years. We would go into almost every house we were invited too. Usually the only exception is if it is a child or a single woman. There were probably circumstances that they thought weren't appropriate.

If there is only a single woman (for male missionaries) or man (for females missionaries) then they usually won't come in for the safety /respect of the single person and them.

It depends on the area where they are serving, but typically it is fine if they go in. But Elders are not allowed to be alone with women, and are advised to stay away from situations that could be potentially dangerous.
