If you have a mirror in the cage then your cockatiel is in love with it self. If you have other birds then it wants to be the only one in the house. If he is your only one then you might try getting him a friend.

well firstly a cockatiel is small creature and u cannot act loud or scream near it bcuz they hav sensitive hearing.. thus will make the bird b scared of u and not want u to come near it. Also its much easier to buy a cockatiel and start tamming it at a young age as it will b used to being around people. there are many factors that can explain why your lil cockatiel is acting this way. if u think it may b a real big problem for him then consult a vet

You've had the bird 44 years? He's just a grumpy old man! uh, bird.

Seriously, he probably wasn't handled and loved as a chick. I worked in a Pet Store for a while, and if they're not hand fed or handled a lot then they won't bond with people. Don't take it personally. Also, someone may have abused it and so now it doesn't trust human hands.

Sounds like the best thing for him might be a shelter or the humane society. You have done all you can and he has still not come around - better to give someone else a chance. It would be terrible for him to live his whole life like this.

My cousin had a pretty obnoxious cockateil like that. That is why I prefer cougars which are much better behaved animals.

yes and he's only 7 weeks old so sometimes it's not if you do or do not handle them. the babies parents are very kewl. I think it's just a 50 /50 thing :)
