Who are the 144,000 in Revelation?
The 144,000 Jews / Israelites who are sealed in Revelation 7:4-8 are sealed for the specific purpose of being “evangelists” during the Tribulation period. The sealing provides protection from the plagues and devastation brought on by the trumpet and bowl judgments, as well as from the wrath of the Antichrist. The 144,000 is not a limit to how many people will be saved, but rather is just a select group of Jewish believers called to proclaim God’s message during the end times. There will be perhaps millions of other converts during the Tribulation, most of them a result of the 144,000’s ministry. The number 144,000 represents 12,000 soulwinners from each of the 12 tribes of Israel.
The Jehovah Witnesses pervert this Biblical teaching by claiming that only 144,000 will enter into Heaven. There is nothing in the Word of God teaching any such nonsense. John said that the number of believers he saw in Heaven were innumerable, "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number..." Clearly, the Word of God does not teach that only 144,000 souls will go to Heaven.

According to the Bible, it will be 144,000 Tribulation Saints (people who have become Christians after the Rapture has occurred) That number would be 12,000 representatives from each of the tribes of Israel. It's not EVERYONE who gets to go to Heaven because when the rapture happens, all living Christians will fly up into Heaven to be with their Saviour. Also, all the believers who died previously will be in Heaven as well.

Why do people come back with the 144,000 number again. In Revalation, it says that there will be that many Jewish witnesses that will teach the gospel during the end of time, not the number that will be saved.

I honestly don't know about Heaven but the Hell is gonna be real packed with triple numbers of 144,000 for sure. Coz nobody deserves Heaven nowadays due to too much sin.

Many answers are correct, 144,000 is not an exact # but the number of Jews. There will be more that no one can number.
But the way to righteousness is narrow, and few there will be that will find it. There will be more people going to "hell" and I use that term losely. I mean through fire, and few will be saved in comparison, but the number is still great and uncountable :)

The 144,000 are Jews that God calls to Himself in the "last days."
It's difficult to say how many are going to heaven. The Bible says that many say "Lord, Lord" but do not really know Jesus. We are also told that there are many weeds (false followers) among the (wheat) true believers, but that Jesus will sort through them at the "end of the age." And the Bible says that the "narrow is the way that leads to life" and that "wide is the path that leads to destruction," which seems to say maybe not as many are on the narrow path as we would like to think.
No one is "perfect" enough to make it to heaven by his own efforts since one little piece of imperfection is enough to keep us out of the presence of God. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." "There is not one righteous, not even one." We are only made righteous in Christ and by His sacrifice. Everyone who believes on His name and confesses salvation through Jesus will be saved. God is the one who judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart and knows who's "for real."

The true figure is none. The same number are going to hell as well.
144,000 is actually 144 x 1000. Is this a gross overestimate?

It is more than 144,000.
Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

144,000 is the number of jewish witnesses that will be saved during the tribulation, not the # of people going to heaven.
