No. They have about the same risk if not more. Windows 98 is not supported anymore which means Microsoft has not released any new security updates in years. This makes you more vulnerable compared to XP which gets updates regularly.

Considering the fact that the majority of the computer users still use 98 and that Microsoft no longer supports it (updates) I look into anti-virus software or the possiblitites of upgrading. Some prefer to stay with 98 because of certain programs/utilities/ hardware work better on there computer with 98. If you want to stick with it, also look into adware and spyware checkers.

Not really, your best bet is getting Windows XP and getting all the updates and free software you can get with Windows XP. However, even with all of that, you are still at high risk. Actually, your best bet would prolly b 2 stick with any 98 and get something like McAffe or Nortin or AVG (which is free)

Well it depends are you using a new virus program that is compatible with windows 98? Or are you using some crappy made virus scanner made IN 98. It also depends what virus infects your computer.

I don't think so unless, you have Norton's Antivirus because, we got a Trojan Horse virus on our computer and it cost us more getting rid of it and stuff so if you want to be safe just get Norton's Antivirus in case or spend 10 times that amount later.
