I hardly believe it, a question directed at athiests that wasn't meant to insult us... Thank you for making my day much better.
I am an atheist, as you probably noticed by my using of the word us in reference to atheists... I still accept the possibility of the existence of god, and have no problem with those that do believe in god (or gods) expressing their beliefs.
*edit*
People, people, she never said that atheists DO hate god, she just added in the condition that if a person DOES, then god still loves that person. She never make any accusations.

I think you misunderstand atheists (not athesits). Atheists don't typically hate Jesus. They simply don't believe that he is a god or is the son of a god. Some may simply believe that he was a guy who got some bad opium or that he was a schizophrenic, if he existed at all.
It's not about opening the mind of atheists, in fact, most atheists believe that their mind is more open than those who are religious because their beliefs are based on facts and evidence rather than an allegorical book.
Atheists are not the only ones defensive of their beliefs. Most people who believe in something are defensive about it.
As far as God loving them, I don't know that he does. The bible says that all those that don't convert are sent to hell, to me that doesn't feel like love, but I could have been taught wrong.
Very few Atheists hate anyone from any given religion. They understand that while their religious beliefs are different, everyone is still human and should be treated as such and treated equally.
I wish you nothing but the best. : )

I'm not an Atheist, but I could see why this may offend one. First, Atheists do not hate Jesus or God, they just simply don't believe in them. In fact, they don't believe in any God period. This belief is mostly based on critical and logical thinking, because many people don't accept the things that people just tell them; some people have to go out into the world and explore other religions and other ideas. They don't need to be reminded that God loves them. Second, by stating that statement, you seem to sound very condescending, which by the way is not very Christian like. Stop worrying about other people's souls and start worrying about your own. God Bless!

I am an athiest and by no means do I hate Jesus. He seemed like a pretty nice guy and someone who would be a good role model. In fact, there are a lot of values in a lot of different scriptures that I do not disagree with.
However, I don't believe that there is a sentient being watching out for all of us. There are too many contradictions.
Besides, many times throughout my life, I have indicated aloud a willingess to accept god into my life, and not once did I recieve an answer. It was ok, because the lack of an answer was in fact my answer.
BTW, you seem like a sweet person and I wish everyone had your sense of decency and respect. :)

You were doing so well until you slipped back into that self-righteous arrogance that gives Christians such a bad name. Arguably it is precisely the 'open mind' that allows atheists to examine all evidence, apply reason freely, and reach their own conclusions instead of blindly accepting the 'wisdom' of theists.
Then there's your false accusations - atheists don't 'hate' God or any other supernatural being. You can't hate something if you don't think it exists. Don't Christians have a commandment about not bearing false witness against others?

You say that your message is one of peace, but what I need to tell you is that you come across as offensive when you call us "closed minded." Have you ever read any Atheist material?
Jesus is a hand-me-down from other pagan religions that came way before Christianity. Many figures in the past were the son of a god and who did great things. Like HERCULES, for example.
I mean no offense, but if you really are open minded as you claim to be, then please visit "Biblical Errancy" by Dennis McKinsey. Here's a man who ran a newsletter for THIRTEEN YEARS about errors in the bible, and all 192 issues are available to read for free.
I am an atheist, and what you believe in is your business. All that I ask, is that you keep it your business. I can co-exist with ANYONE who can co-exist with me. Thank you

Hey sweetie. Props for putting the word out there even when people might not want to listen, however...I don't think that Atheism necessarily means that someone hates God. I hope you understand that. I have a friend who is an Atheist and it isn't about hate, its more about having a mindset that what you see is what you get. Religious faith is believing in something that you can't see and feeling love and hope inspite of that fact.
But I do support your efforts...God Bless : )

I don't hate your deity.. I can't hate something that I do not believe exists.
I have been a christian and I have studied their theology and practices among many other world religions. I made my decision that deities don't exist based from those writings. Because of that, I will never go back into a belief in deities because I'm not doing it to hop on some bandwagon.
However, thank you for your kind words and I wish you the best.

Atheist is not necessarily non Christian. I believe that your query was a bit off in that regard. Religion is theism collectively. Spirituality is as each individual deems it. Human beings seem to need the collective of religion to feel secure. Love is as we all allow our beings to express and or receive. It would be very hard to keep an open heart and mind if one did not consider all religions as a source of spirituality.

Well, atheists don't necessarily hate God, their experiences just lead them to believe that there isn't one. Agnostics are completely undecided on the matter and can't really say either way, and deists believe that there is a God, but that He only created everything and doesn't play an active role anymore. I suppose if someone can believe in many gods as compared to one God, then they can believe in none as well. The key is tolerance of every religion, no matter how we personally feel.

I'm open to the possibility of a god existing, and I do believe Jesus existed, purely as a historical figure. The term "atheist" simply believes without god. It isn't that I believe that no gods exist, I just don't have belief in a god (there is a difference). If a god showed himself to me right now I would admit that I was wrong. There just isn't enough evidence for me to believe that a god exists.
