What are some tips on how to focus better in class?

When I was in the first grade I had to create my own motivation. I ask myself did I want to learn knew things. I had no encouragement, but I wanted to learn. I saw all knowledge as good. I listened well . I put up with the people that picked on me. In later years it payed off. When I attended the Air Force Non Commissioned officers Academy I learned to take notes. Listening and being interested in what's said. If you didn't catch what the teacher was trying to get across then ask him or her to explain again for you. That's what they the teachers get paid for anyway. Listening, Comprehending, and taking notes and studying over and over. Learn it though, don't memorize it. You don't see what it'll bring now, but later in life you'll recall all that you've been taught. Good Luck.

This is the only one way to get focus in class, and I knew it's hard to follow but it's really work. That's you should have yourself control. Everyday, when you came in to class, sit straight, pay attention when the teacher giving you directions, stay quite, but you can have conversation on participate times. Praise, or have a little gift for yourself when you could stay focus in class for a month or so. Good luck !

bring a cup of joe with you to class. get plenty of sleep. Read up before the class that way you can participate....the more you participate the more you focus. Also learn the material to learn something new and not to just make a good grade.

I agree with sleep/coffee/breakfast but what helps me the most is sitting near the front. It makes me feel more a part of what is going on and makes me feel more noticeable - like I need to remain interested, so as not to insult the lecturer.
