when you go toward the door pick up a toy your cat likes or get a laser pointer and throw the toy away from the door and the cat will chase after it or shine the laser pointer away from the door and your cat will chase after it and you can get out safely, getting in is more difficault you can do the same thing to get in, best bet is if someone is home when you are coming home call them when you are almost to the door and tell them to get the cat away from the door.

One of the best suggestions I have heard is to have a friend on the other side of the door. You put some loose change in a coffee can and rattle that when the cat gets close to the door or when the door is opened. Cats hate loud noises and that should create a great aversion to the door.

when you get out carry a box outside so then you can block your cat from getting outside thats what I do when sometimes he tries to open the door so I put a gree big toy box at the door way and so he can't get out.

put up a fence and take the front claws off. my cats never leave the yard, they enjoy the warm summer days and come in thru the cat door when they want to come in. they really dont feel confined that way. get them spayed or neutered asap

Everytime she goes near the door you can spray her with water from a spray bottle or shake a can of pennies at her !!!!!!!!!!!! She'll prbably learn to not go near the door!!!!!!!
