I have teeth that need to be extracted (4). I have let them get soft, and they feel as if my fingernail can penetrate the tooth. I have loostened the teeth with a plier covered with a cloth, and plan on extracting them.

Is there any tricks to getting them out smoothly? I plan on having a friend remove any shards of tooth left in my jaw so that skin dosent grow around.

Tips? Tricks? Hints?

all I can do is sit here in horrified amazement at what you plan. Do you realize how painful that is going to be? further, what if you do the wrong thing and the "soft" tooth shatters? OW OW OW... go to a dentist, that's crazy. Most of them will work out payment arrangements. ALSO, I think you have a risk of bad infection if any of the teeth are absessed.

Are you asking this question for shock value, or is this what you really plan to do? I'm telling you right now, you could really injure yourself, and if you have a friend go poking around in your open tissues, with probably an unsterilized, whatever you plan to use. You are setting yourself up for injury, infection, and you'll probably have to end up in the ER anyway. As far as "shards" left in there? The dentists has special elevators and forceps designed to lift those out with ease. If you think you can get your teeth out with a plier and a cloth, you have another thing coming. Teeth have to be separated from the bone and gum FIRST so that they can be extracted with more ease. Not to mention dentists are trained in techniques of rotating the tooth to ease it out. You are really asking for it! If you just snatch it out like your planning, it is no doubt going to break off at the gums, and then how are you going to get the remaining roots out?? More importantly, where is your novocaine? Do you realize how painful an extraction is without being numb???? So you should just suck it up and go see a dentist. If you can pay a portion sometimes they usually allow you to set up a payment plan for the rest. GO TO THE DENTIST!!!

You'll have no trouble getting the soft top part out, but in order to get the root out, you're going to have to go digging between the root and the bone with a very slim but extremely strong instrument - kind of exactly like dentists have and know how to use. If you don't do this, you will end up with an infection (if you don't have one already) and more pain than you can imagine. If you do have an infection and try to remove your own tooth, you'll just push it deeper into your jaw bone and end up in bad shape. Be sure to look at a good anatomy book so you learn how many root to look for and where to find them for each tooth in question. Check out the variations so you will know when to expect four roots instead of three or three roots instead of two, etc. Those "shards of tooth" will be at the bottom of a hole that is only 4 or 5 mm wide, but 15-20 mm deep. Tell your friend not to damage the nerve at the bottom of the hole if it's a lower tooth, because this could leave your lip numb for the rest of your life. Tell him not to puncture your maxillary sinus if it's an upper tooth, or you will end up in the hospital with an infection.

The trick to getting teeth out smoothly is to ask someone who has done a hundred or a thousand to do it for you. I'm sure I could not do what you do for a living and you should not try to do what I do for a living. We could both get into a lot of trouble and I know that at least one of us could hurt themselves.

Those so called "shards" will work their way to the surface all by themselves.. all you will need is tweezers to fully extract them. Don't have anyone prod around in the tissues... mostly, they will only increase the bleeding.

If you are able to use self hypnosis, there should actually be no pain or bleeding.

1. Wiggle until it's very loose, then eat some apples. You won't feel a thing.
2. Tie a string around it and pull.

I'd rent out castaway, then go hire an ice skate and a rock.
