Gas prices obviously are too high when they are nearly triple the rate just 4 years ago. The problem is: there is nothing we can do about it. We, as a nation, use gas like its going out of style, and the oil companies know it. The war was a great lead in for them to jump in and raise it to whatever they want.
It's to the point now where people with minimum wage jobs have to quit because it cost them more for gas than what they would make at work if they live 20 miles away!
I saw on the Today show that Matt Lauer had one of the oil company CEOs on. This was after they had recorded record profits. Matt's last question was simply whether we could expect prices to go back down. The CEO responded "No, that isn't going to happen. We are in this to make money".
This needs to raise a RED flag with everyone. We need different sources of energy/fuel. This situation isn't going to get any better.
Ironically, the rest of the world has been where we are on pricing for years! Some countries...it is common place for them to figure how much gas it takes to get somewhere and they roll the car into the gas station to put just the right amount of gas in!

When oil companies are showing profits in the billions of dollars there is a problem and it is called price gouging.
I don't believe that any one in Washington will do anything because of the lobbyists.
Who has the money and is not afraid to use it.
We as a nation must boycott gas stations for one day and see what happens to the price of fuel.
Yes I think it is way to high and it should be lower.

First: The word you want to use is "Too." (it helps to appear somewhat literate).
Second: You're right they ARE high.
Third: The real question is why? Is it: A) Our own consumption driving the cost; B) Manipulation by the oil companies which are making great profits just now; C) The Middle East problem which seems to erupt every few years and seems to be going on endlessly....
Fourth: I suggest its all of those...fueled by a US Government that: A) Does nothing to curb consumption of oil, but in fact encourages it; while not promoting alternatives (guess why?); B) has not shown the Arabs that it is serious about resolving the issues in the Middle East (we should be telling Syria and Iran that if they don't lay off in Lebanon we'll consider turning them collectively into a parking lot) and C) is in the hands of the likes of George Bush, Haliburton, Carlisle Group and ilk, who have a direct interest in things remaining the same ('cause its filling their pockets).
Yes, they are TOO high and likely to go higher and stay that way until we demand some serious changes in US Policy.

Is there supposed to be an optional answer other than YES & YES?
Ok. Let's try this. NO & NO. I love paying a small fortune for gas. The gas prices are not high enough. They need to go higher. I could always get a 2nd job to be able to pay for the gas to get to my 1st job and then I can get a 3rd job just to make enough to drive to my 2nd job....and so on.
I'm sorry....this was just a pointless question with only one obvious answer...which the poster obviously knew. Why bother to post it?

No I like them high because alternative fuels are being developed due to the high price of gas. If the price goes down now, it will just go higher later. I'd rather get away from gasoline permanently.

As a cab driver, I spent $190 this last week on gas. I put in 60 hours and cleared just over $300, including tips. That's less than $5 an hour. I have another income, but I feel sorry for the drivers who have families to support. They have to put in more than 80 hours a week to support them. Fatigue related accidents for cab driver, nation wide, are way up.

high? You know when the price is high when the "cheapest" gas station you go to is$2.89 a gallon-REGULAR!!!
And, that is cheap. Here in Jersey, it is a nightmare. Wholly sh!t, is it bad. And we are one of the "cheaper" states. Are you kidding me? This sucks! We own how many oil production companies out there in the world and you mean to tell me we still have to pay expensive gas on the salary we are getting? This country is a f@cking joke and everyone is laughing at us!

I want them lowered. However nothing will happen while the Bush administration is in office. They are too beholden to the oil companies and will not change them no matter what. A big irony is that the terrorists get most of their funding from what we pay for oil bought from the middle east. Therefore the Bush administration is anti-terrorist and is a major donor to the terrorist war fund.
