i was really hungry when i started scarffing down some broasted potatoes. they had just came out of the kitchen and burned my gums. now the burned area bleeds whenever i brush my teeth. how can i get it to heal faster. searching on the internet has gotten me no where. >:0 becaause all i can find on the subject are generic burn remedies for SKIN, or crap about gingivitis or gun disease.

Stay clear of all the normal mouth products for a week. Brush carefully, using just a little baking soda, staying far away from the site of your injury. Slightly warm, slightly salty water is a good rinse (swish gently) but for the first day or two I'd go with icy water, as this will reduce the swelling and inflammation and help lessen your pain and discomfort. Whatever you do, always rinse your mouth thoroughly after you eat. Keep your mouth as clean as possible, but again, do not use any mouthwash. Alcohol free or not, those chemicals are not meant for an injury such as yours. As long as you avoid infection, it should heal quickly.

It burns only if i put my tongue through it as if i were to try to blow a bubble with it but other than that it isn't that bad for me. It doesn't "wast my tast budes" lol. But it also burns the skin too. I had a teacher and if she caught you chewing gum in her class she made you take it out and stick it on your nose and one time she caught me and i was chewing big red, cinnamon gum, and i had just put it in my mouth right before going to her class so it was still very fresh. well i had to put it on my nose and it burned and it left a red spot. lol.

IM not sure, but i would think that not brushing your teeth for a few days may help it heal faster. That is if cleaning and mouthwash may aggrivate the burn. If you do brush, do it fast, and dont use mouthwash. Not brushing for a few days wont ruin your smile.

When i burn my mouth, i usually get a hanging piece of flesh which disappears in a day or 2.

You'll heal okay within a week to ten days, if you don't develop an infection. If it doesn't show signs of improvement by day 5 or 6, get your dentist to check it out. You may need an Rx for antibiotics.

Only real way to get the gums to heal faster is to rinse your mouth out with warm salt water...the salt will heal the wound..and clean it out so it can heal faster.
