Why do men and women misunderstand each other?

Women think that all men want is SEX (there's some truth to this). Some men think that all women want is money. Is there really a misunderstanding---

Truth is, we're not really communicating with one another.

i can explain that...........sex is important to men and money and security are important to woman. There is no missunderstanding about that. The relationship is more important than those two things but its true those are the motivations for us.

Women and men don't think with the same parts of their brain. There is a book (actually many) that talks of the communications between men and women. Men are basic people that are usually more direct than women. Women are people who want a man to "know" what they want and will only hint of it. Men will most likely admit that the first thing on their minds is sex......but that doesn't mean that they are not capable of loving too. And I think that women just have gotten a bad rap about being money hungry.....although I do know that their are a lot of them out there. Money is very important to men....probably right after sex, because it a symbol of power. That's why they like sports...they are natural born competitors, and that's why they think that women are after it. A book to read would be "Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars".

Men and Women misunderstand each other because there is a vast ocean of comprehensive difference between the nature of the two. A women growing up in a culture is treated vastly different than a man, (and vice versa), and thus - through years each gender grows as a collective conciense.

It is not impossible, however, for an intelligent couple to open up many different gates of understanding by collectively attempting to open each others' mind. For example - in your question - you've showed one gate that is obviously firmly closed in your mind: "all men want is sex."

Read the following questions on this statement, and tell me if you've ever heard the answer from a man, in such a way that it makes perfect sense to you - and at the same time, you completely and honestly believe his explanation.

Women say "all men care about is sex"
1. why do they care about sex?
2. what made them grow into this opinion?
3. why do they continually ask for it?
4. is it physical, emotional?
5. what is it like when they don't get it?
6. what is it like when they do?

etc

Basically, the more communication there is, the less misunderstanding there is. Again - there is a huge ocean of communication missing, and each question aksed and answered and expanded on and explained and exampled - is only a cubic inch of the journey.

But the more you talk,

the more you know.

ps: you can start by opening your gate - dropping your biased notion - that all men care about sex. As soon as you do that, you're opening up for other possibilities to enter your brain. Allow him to fill it for you. It's called trust. You have to trust they won't lie to you. You have to trust the info they are giving you is legit. And vice versa. It's a very advanced level of a relationship, surpassing love, "love", and 'love.'

Well it kinda goes back to that whole men are from mars and women are from venus thing. But I say if you really care about your gf/wife or bf/husband, you would really sit down and communicate to try to understand each other better. No matter what it is over be it sex or money. I just think ppl move way to fast in today's time. Meaning that everyone's lives are so fast paced they really don't have time anymore to sit down and just have a conversation with anyone. If they can't get their point across in a text message or through a instant message, both sexes are always going to be misunderstood. Its just all about the time and effort each side puts in to understanding each other.

I don't where you heard that women only want money. Maybe some I guess but certainly not all. And men for the most part woudl be happy if they had sex and football on 24 hrs a day. Your right men and women dont communicate great but sometime we do.

I think it is more complicated than this. But I agree that poor communication is at the heart of most problems between men and women. If you start out with a good open line of communication your relationships should be much better.

Read the book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus -
(or reversed - I forget) great book and it explains the difference between the sexes terrifically. It's a total different mind set.

Misunderstandings comes out when there is a lot of complications in ones life...and with a lot of interests..There is no proper communication..
For me i say that we can always trace this and go back where we belong the up bringing from our parents...because we all got different lifestyles...
Sometimes there's no proper communicaton between 2 people and they end up fighting...because it always take two to tango...and couples have to work hard so that they can feed their hearts desire in terms of the material things...
All we need is PROPER COMMUNICATION..t.c.

Not only men and woman misunderstand eachother,men and men misunderdstand and woman and woman misunderstand eachother.Some people(men and women)see sooo much of this on tv and in movies that they have no reason not to believe it.ANd yeah i agree people don't communicate as much as they should and thats probably why we have misunderstands.People in general just need to talk to eachother more.

The men that think that all women want is money tend to be assholes. The women that think that all men want is sex tend to be women screwed over by assholes.
