I have a recipe that calls for one cup (250 ml's) of whipping cream. Can I substitute evaporated (non-sweetened) milk and if so what are the conversions? It is for a soup I am making. Please help.

NO!!!!!!!!! Whipping cream is much thicker and heavier so you must use what it calls for. Evabourated milk is used to water things down like thick milk chocalte for dipping but not hardning it at the samw time. You can use different % of whipping cream you don't have to but the most expensive. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Evaporated milk has less fat than whipping cream, so if you are looking for a rich soup or a cold soup use the whipping cream. Otherwise, the evaporated milk will probabaly be fine.

Its okay for soup and cooking but not for whipping.
Use the same amount the recipe calls for.

This is kind of off-topic...but you can substitute applesauce for cooking oil (like vegetable oil) in recipes. It tastes the same, and is healthier.
