I think most people love dogs. Even if in little doses. They have too much personality not to like them. They'd be perfect if they'd bathe themselves, not demand all of your personal space and clean up their own poop. I like other people's dogs in small doses.

Dogs have always been a part of my life, on the farm, in town, and when I married.

My wife and I have been involved with dogs for almost as long as we have been married (46 years). In the early sixties we acquired our first Great Dane and then moved into the world of breeding and showing. I trained my first dog in 1971 and in 1976 we charted our dog training group and currently have five trainers and during these same years we have also trained 4H children for the 4H Fairs. My wife and I also do canine behaviorist work. My wife is also a canine portrait artist. I have twice sat on the board of directors of the local humane society and have managed it for them for a few months in between directors. This has also included managing animal control for three different jurisdictions. At times I have also been called on to provide expert testimony.

Yes, you could say we like dogs, they have been part of our lives for nearly all of our lives.

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. . . . . He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. . . . . When all other friends desert, he remains."
George G. Vest: Speech at Warrensburg, Mo., Sept. 23, 1870.

I have 2 cute dogs. And they follow me in everywhere. I really can't imagine how boring my life will be if I don't have them. Unfortunately in my country some people don't like dogs so much. They didn't treat dogs well. Many of them are starving on the street and get bitten. I really wish I could save them from the street.

A lot of people like their dogs more than their kids.
Cats are just dog food.

I used to "like" dogs, but after getting our first dog, Carly - a Shih-tzu/Lhaso Apso mix - she's has become wonderful addition to our family who truly shows unconditional LOVE.

She knows when I, or my wife, isn't feeling good, and she will not leave our side. Whenever one of us is upset, she tries to cheer us up by putting her paw on us, and gives this reassuring look that everything will be OK.

I truly feel blessed that my wife found her and brought her into our home. Carly is more than just a "pet", she's a wonderful, loving, caring, important member of our family.
