Several years ago I was outdoors and praying, because my heart was so heavy from caring for my mother who had cancer and not long to live. A humming bird came up to me and fluttered in front of my face for some time. A few days ago I was outdoors praying ,again really greived and a humming bird came up before my face and startled me but it stayed for some time and left. I feel it's a sign from God, do you think it's possible in a humming bird?

We live in a world of illusion and delusion and where there is no knowledge. Its inhabitants are blind and deaf. Thus, without help from the Spirit, we are not able to recognize a sign from God if we should see one. I once saw a hummingbird look in someone's ear. I think it was just looking for nectar.

Yes, the gods or the God can send messages in many forms. Regarding the one who asked to hear of answered prayer. I prayed when twenty to either have children or know why I couldn't have them. A little history is needed. I was a virgin and hadn't had a relationship even close to that level. At the time, all I got was silence and a sense of peace. I knew in how I phrased my request that I wouldn't have children. Six years later, a long time for some, I found out I have a septated uterus making pregnancy impossible without surgery and still unlikely with surgery. The answer I had for six years had been something along the lines of be still in this matter. That preparation allowed me to not grieve too much the knowledge I will never be a mother. I took a long time to understand the same constant message.
The Humming bird may take a while to be understood, but you will understand it.

I don't know what it would be a sign 'for' exactly as it is just a hummingbird, unless hummingbirds have significance to you.
But the Lord does talk to us, it is just many of us cannot or will not listen. God doesn't give up though...and many Christians who finally get it just break down in tears because everything becomes so apparent.
In today's time, it is considered to be a sheep if you believe in God....because many things that MAN has done in God's name were pretty messed up. These are the same people who like crappy music because no one else likes it. Or just as bad, they want to make their own god and pick and choose the different aspects that God wants us to live by.
Lean on Him during this time. I had a real struggle with this very thing because it seemed like many people used God and prayer like a wishing well. "I have something negative going on and I want you to make it go away". What I realized is there is a reason God is called "The Heavenly Father". He loves you like a father loves their children...and although he knows what is going on, he wants the relationship of you coming to Him and asking for "advice".
Personally, God talks to me. It is like having a conversation in my head sometimes where God is the voice of reason. It is the voice that cuts through all my junk and excuses I try to make for my sins. The voice is not some booming voice or anything and I'm not crazy...heh heh.
I'm sharing this because if I didn't open up my life to God, I wouldn't have that relationship. Those of you that don't believe...it's your choice, but for something this important, I would suggest at least reading some of the Bible and listening to how God can make you happier. It's worth the effort.

God works in mysterious ways. Why not in the form of a humming bird? The question is, did you get what you needed from your prayers?
If so, then it was probably a sign from God.

Humming birds, are sweet, carefree, and nice to look at. God is possibly sending you something to take your mind off all your hurt, just for a minute.

Did you feel any sense of peace from this encounter? Did you consider the possibility of something beyond the logical rational world we think we live in? If so ,then yes. God can act in any way He chooses. Perhaps he chose to lighten your heart. He doesn't have to part the waters to show his power. Sometimes he just opens your eyes.

God sends us signs in whatever form He pleases, it sounds like yours was beautiful! I wouldn't be able to tell you the meaning of your sign from the hummingbirds because that would be something probably personal to you, but it sounds like a sign! Even if it is just a reassurance that He's there for you :)

O Yes! In native american terms the hummingbird is a sign of great joy and blessings. I think its god telling you that your mom is about to be in heaven and not suffering anymore and that she is going to be ok. I had a hummingbird experience before I had my little girl. never had a sign like that. sounds so beautiful and peaceful. I am sorry about your mother, and I am sorry about all the situations in your life that have caused you so much grief. A sign from God? I would believe so. If this occurrence gave you a spiritual feeling, who are we to say that it was not so? I would be so inclined to believe that it was a sign from God

God sends us signs all the time and they can be in any form whatsoever. I think a hummingbird would be a beautiful way to receive the message that God loves you and is watching over you. Remember to thank him for it.
